Regulating dental professionals in the UK to maintain standards for the benefit of patients.
About us
We are the organisation which regulates dental professionals in the United Kingdom. All dentists, dental nurses, dental technicians, clinical dental technicians, dental hygienists, dental therapists and orthodontic therapists must be registered with us to work in the UK. Our purpose is to protect the public by regulating the dental team. We do that by: • registering qualified professionals, • setting standards of dental practice and conduct, • assuring the quality of dental education, • ensuring professionals keep up-to-date, • helping patients with complaints about a dentist or dental care professional, and • working to strengthen patient protection.

I love being part of the Dental Leaders Network working group, being able to shape events like today to allow leaders to explore the biggest challenges we face in the profession and consider what we can do to be part of the solution, we need to lead and not to be led 💪🦷 Planning today’s agenda over the last few months has caused much consideration and occasionally the subject ‘Workforce, how many dental professionals do we need?’ seemed a little daunting…..to say the least 😱☺️ However, while we didn’t directly answer the question today, what we did do was think, consider how we find data, use needs based workforce planning and systems thinking to consider the challenge. We also need to understand what will be needed in the future as any data will be the past or a snapshot in time 🕰️ What came through clearly was that more inclusion of the whole profession is needed in any discussion in order to consider how we really build a workforce based on bringing the best out in the whole team in order to provide great oral healthcare 🤩 Thank you to the General Dental Council for facilitating and so lovely to catch up with so many friends and peers from across the profession 😊 #DentalLeaders #dentistry Denplan

We've opened the annual renewal period for dentists, as The Dentist reports. This crucial process ensures that dentists remain on the UK register. To streamline the renewal process, we have outlined three straightforward steps for dentists to complete by the respective deadlines. Pay the Annual Retention Fee (ARF) by 31 December. Indemnity cover: Dentists need to confirm they have, or will have, indemnity cover is in place by 31 December. For dentists covered under their employer’s policy, they will need to make sure they have access to the details of the policy. Complete a CPD statement by 28 January. Dentists must complete a minimum of 10 hours of CPD over the last two-year period by 31 December. https://lnkd.in/eMk8YzX4 #dentistry #dentists
