  • Supermarkets ‘putting profits above human rights’? 🍅 The BBC recently reported that Italian tomato purées sold in UK supermarkets may contain tomatoes linked to forced labour in China’s Xinjiang region. ❌ Misleading marketing, labelling or describing products as "Italian,” blindsides consumers who want to make ethical choices. We spoke to Katrina Anderson, Principal Associate at Mills & Reeve, about this 👇 👇 “These kind of exposés serve to illustrate how complex food supply chains are and that the risk of food fraud remains high. They also highlight the importance of consistent programs of supply chain diligence to ensure that food labels are accurate compliant and not misleading. The ongoing risk of modern slavery within the food supply chain needs to factored in to all food business with international supply chain’s compliance with the Modern Slavery Act.” On #HumanRightsDay, this starts with building a more transparent and collaborative supply chain 🔗 That’s why Human Rights with Louise Nicholls is a key Masterclass in our Sustainability Accelerator Programme. 📌 The next programme kicks off on February 3rd—join us in 2025! Reach out to secure your spot.

Accelerating business transformation in the Food and Drink industry | Climate, Health & Innovation

Ensuring equitable access to nutritious food for all is vital but it also unlocks extraordinary opportunities for innovation, investment, and entrepreneurial impact That was the topic of conversation at Blue Earth Forum. I had the pleasure of hosting a brilliant panel and flying the Future Food Movement flag; ➡️ Ben Newton, CIO at Yeo Ventures ➡️ Archie Mason, Partner at Bramble Partners ➡️ Christopher Ramsay, Partner at Pelican Ag We talked on: government policy, consumer trends, investment opportunities, UPF, GLP-1's, regenerative farming, big data and balancing purpose and profit. The big takeaway: The food industry is going through a period of extreme disruption, but with that comes a huge opportunity to redefine the status quo. We're optimistic. Thanks as always to Guy Hayler and Rosie Riley for the invitation (and the picture ft Tim Etherington-Judge's suit!)
