Why a good onboarding process is like a first date, it sets the tone! 😄 👀 In the care sector, onboarding isn’t just paperwork and policies, it’s the welcome mat for your new hires. Get it right, and you’ve got loyal, engaged carers. Mess it up, and… they might be “ghosting” your company before probation ends. Here’s why investing in a smooth, compliant onboarding process matters: ✅ Retention rates soar: A solid onboarding process can boost retention by up to 82% (yes, that much!). People stick around when they feel like they’re not just a number but part of a supportive, well-run team. No one wants to feel like they’ve just signed up for chaos. ✅ Quality hires shine: A clear process helps new employees hit the ground running (or at least walking confidently). They know what’s expected, who to turn to, and aren’t left wondering if they accidentally signed up for the wrong job. ✅ Compliance without the yawn: Care settings need compliance like tea needs biscuits. Get your new staff up to speed on regulations early, and you’ll avoid hiccups and sleepless nights. Onboarding isn’t just about ticking boxes; it’s your chance to show new hires why they made the right choice. Think of it as the company’s first impression, and no one likes a limp handshake on the first day! 💼 Got any fun onboarding success stories (or horror ones)? Let’s hear them below! #OnboardingMatters #CareSector #RetentionWins #LeadershipWithHeart #ComplianceDoneRight #QualityCare #FirstImpressions #Recruitment

Let’s be real: hiring in the care sector can feel like running a never-ending marathon. There’s always a role to fill, always another CV to review, and just when you think you’ve found the one, they vanish faster than you can say “inductions are on….”. But what if I told you there’s a way to make hiring less of a headache and more of a smooth, dare I say enjoyable, process? Enter: Mentoring, to improve your own systems & processes. #CareSector #Recruitment #Retention #Referrals #BetterCare #ProactiveHiring

If I could share one piece of advice with care companies, what would it be? - Ask candidates to being their I.D, right to work docs, and new starter information to the interview. Why? Because if you don't hire them, you haven't lost any time or money, other than interview time. If you do hire them, you can get everything started there and then. You can eliminate days (or weeks) out of your hiring process, just by collecting these documents whilst the candidate is in front of you. I'm still surprised, by how many companies don't do this, and yet are surprised that candidates take days or weeks to provide a passport or proof of address. If the candidate doesn't bring the documents to interview, it shows you they haven't listened, aren't prepared, or aren't bothered about what you ask of them. Speaks volumes, eh?

Focusing, and specialising in a 3-point focus gives us great clarity. Clarity on what works. Clarity on what doesn't work. Dealing with people is never going to have a one-size fits all system. There are just too many variables to deal with, to have it even close to being efficient. Bespoke systems don't have to cost a fortune, they can even be written on a post-it note and stuck to a PC monitor (wouldn't recommend this...but it would work!). A system will work, if it's processes are followed. Using technology to strip out some of the human focused process management can have an immense compound effect on your time, and therefore positively influence your business too. More time = more opportunities.
