We’re delighted to share that Liz Evans was named Leader of the Year at this year’s Drapers Awards 2024. Liz was selected by the Drapers team for her pivotal role in leading the George at Asda team, which has seen a 4.9% increase in like-for-like clothing sales – reinforcing George as the top choice for schoolwear among families.   We are also celebrating another win for George at Asda, after our ‘Uniform for the People’ campaign was recognised as Best Marketing Campaign. Leading with a 30-second TV advert, the campaign highlighted how George at Asda has parents’ backs, with a range of uniforms designed to deliver great value and durability for kids.   Congratulations again to Liz, the entire George at Asda team, and all other worthy winners at the Drapers awards! 👏 🏆   You can read Liz’s full interview with Drapers here: https://lnkd.in/dTTmaprq

We’re celebrating a great evening at The King's Trust Awards 2024, after George at Asda won “Campaign of the Year” for our partnership with Mattel, Inc. and The King's Trust.   Earlier this year, we worked with The King’s Trust to create a Barbie inspired fashion and home collection for George at Asda. The collection was designed by Trust-supported young people as part of the #ChangeAGirlsLife campaign and was launched as part of International Women's Day.   This partnership not only provided invaluable guidance and mentorship to young people interested in the world of product design and fashion, but it has also helped to raise vital funds to support young women all over the UK to change their lives for the better.   We were also delighted to be shortlisted for the ‘Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Award’, while our Chris Goodson was also a finalist in the ‘Unsung Hero’ Award category.   Watch the video to hear more about this inspiring campaign – congratulations to the team! https://lnkd.in/e6GbyMCX

We're pleased to launch today a new neonatal care leave policy, providing all Asda colleagues with additional leave and pay if their baby is born needing neonatal care treatment after birth. With research showing that approximately one in seven babies born in the UK are admitted to a neonatal unit shortly after birth, Asda is now providing greater support to colleagues with parental responsibility of a baby receiving neonatal care treatment.   Colleagues with a baby in neonatal care treatment for 7 full days or more will be able to take up to a maximum of 12 weeks of fully paid leave, in addition to their maternity, paternity or adoption leave. A new George premature baby clothing range will also launch online and in 51 stores close to neonatal hospital units, to coincide with World Premature Baby Day on Sunday 17th November.   You can read more by clicking below 👇

We’re supporting Respect for Shopworkers Week as part of Usdaw Union’s Freedom From Fear campaign – which aims to highlight and prevent violence, threats and abuse targeting retail workers. The safety of our colleagues is a key priority for our business. We continue to advocate for stronger protections for shopworkers, and we are pleased to hear the government reaffirm its commitment to recognise acts of violence or abuse against retail workers as a standalone criminal offence. At Asda, we take a zero-tolerance approach to violence, harassment, or abuse towards our colleagues. No colleague should come to work in fear of being attacked. You can learn more about Respect for Shopworkers Week here: https://lnkd.in/e7KFj4di #FreedomFromFear #respectforshopworkers

Today, we shared our Q3 performance results, reporting a 4.8% decline in like-for-like sales for the three months to the end of September. Although we’ve made progress from the previous quarter, we know there’s more to do to achieve sustained growth.   Earlier this year, we outlined our plans to improve availability on core lines, enhance the customer experience and invest in value. We’re already seeing customer perceptions improving and a positive difference being made, having supported these priorities with an additional £30m investment into store hours.   Some of the highlights from across the business during the last quarter include: • A record-breaking Back-to-School season for George, driving a 4.9% increase in like-for-like clothing sales and reinforcing George as the top choice for schoolwear among families. • Consistent recognition as the best value supermarket for families, topping Which?’s monthly ‘Big Shop’ price survey for every month in 2024 except one. • Growing our popular Asda Rewards loyalty app, now with over 6.8 million regular users and accounting for nearly 57% of all transactions. • Launching the industry-first ‘Cashpot for Schools’ initiative, through our Rewards app which has raised more than £4.5 million to support local schools and families. • Doubling our Exceptional range with over 400 new premium products, further elevating customers’ quality perception. With the busiest time for year for retailers fast approaching, we’re investing an additional £13m in store hours during to ensure more colleagues are on hand to support customers during the ‘Golden Quarter’.

Happy 30th birthday to our food redistribution partner FareShare UK! Kris Comerford, our Chief Commercial Officer, attended FareShare's Parliamentary reception this week which celebrated our years of and investments in innovation and infrastructure.   Since partnering with FareShare in 2013, we’ve donated the equivalent of 40 million meals from our stores and depots to more than eight thousand charities and community groups across the UK. We will continue to support FareShare and the charities it works closely with to ensure more food reaches the people who need it most.   Thank you to all our colleagues who are pivotal to making this happen!

November is Islamophobia Awareness Month and the 2024 theme is Seeds of Change.   This is a reminder that we can all take small actions to raise awareness and tackle Islamophobia.   There has been a 365% increase in Islamophobic incidents since October 2023, and 7 out of 10 Muslims in the UK have experienced Islamophobia in the workplace. For those impacted Islamophobia can lead to exclusion, mental health struggles, and missed opportunities for both personal and professional growth.   That’s why it’s crucial to foster a culture that celebrates diversity, empathy, and inclusion - not just at Asda but all workplaces, schools, colleges, and society at large. Together, we can make a positive difference to the communities we serve.   #Asda #LifeatAsda #Islamophobia #SeedsofChange #Inclusion
