Thank you to everyone who attended today’s panel discussion in Dubai, "Lessons from Grenfell: Functional Requirements or Prescriptive Rules." Hosted by Essex Court Chambers, the panel brought together Richard Millett K.C., Peter Van Gorp (HKA), and Michael Ducker (Clyde & Co) to examine the evolution and effectiveness of the UK’s building regulations, delve into the UAE Fire Code and its prescriptive nature, and explore their implications for the UAE insurance market.

Last evening, members of Essex Court Chambers hosted a panel discussion and drinks reception to mark the publication of the book ''The Principle of Systemic Integration in International Law'' by Campbell McLachlan KC . The panel chaired by Sir Franklin Berman KCMG KC, featured insightful contributions from Campbell McLachlan KC, Alison Macdonald KC, and Professor Martins Paparinskis . Together, they explored the interplay between applicable rules of international law and the impact of Article 31(3)(c) of the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties (VCLT) on both international and national case-law. Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to making this event truly engaging.
