Engineering an Electric Future. Equipmake offers Electric Powertrain Solutions for the Global Automobile & Bus Markets.
About us
Equipmake has the capability to design and prototype all motor types. Specialising in permanent magnet synchronous and brushless DC (BLDC) motors, we have also developed induction and switch reluctance machines. Our development portfolio includes a 120kW, 12,000 rpm high performance electric vehicle traction motors, a 120,000 rpm 17kW generator for a gas turbine electric vehicle range extender, high speed blower motors for industrial fans, and a high speed motor for a commercial vehicle compressor. The design process will normally involve Equipmake undertaking a feasibility study based on the customers requirements to size the motor. The initial feasibility study will include an initial mechanical stress, thermal, and electrical performance prediction. Following this the detailed design can be undertaken. This will involve an iterative process optimising the design taking into account the various cooling , mechanical, and electromagnetic requirements. Equipmake has the facilities to prototype the motor and perform validation testing including characterising the motor performance and validating the motor against the original performance prediction. Equipmake has an extensive motor supply chain network, and can assist its customers in costing and setting up for production, or alternatively, we have the capability in house for low volume production. We have recently invested in a 4 axis Mazak VCN430A vertical machining centre which enables us to manufacture prototype components in house, reducing lead times for development

Equipmake doubles continuous power of heavy-duty motor Equipmake has unveiled a heavy-duty electric motor with double the continuous power of its predecessor. The HTM-3500 state-of-the-art e-motor boasts the same peak figures of 3500 Nm and 400 kW as before, but continuous power has been doubled from 100 kW to 200 kW at 2500 rpm. The motor is direct-drive, integrating to the propshaft and axle without the need of a separate transmission. Equipmake CEO Ian Foley said: “By doubling its continuous power, our new HTM-3500 enables electric buses, coaches, trucks and other heavy vehicles to operate with greater real-world performance and efficiency during their regular duty cycles.” The company also carries out conversions of existing vehicles such as fire trucks with REV Group in the US and Emergency One in the UK, alongside various airside logistical vehicles at airports. Cenex Expo 2024 success story. Equipmake are happy to announce that we saved an impressive 937kg of CO2 through four FirstGroup plc repowered buses. The buses were used to shuttle attendees around UTAC Milbrook and completed a total of 575 miles over the two days. If you're interested in how we can help save your company these levels of CO2 and taking further steps towards zero emissions, please get in touch via our website or drop us an email to [email protected]. Take a look at the graphics below to see how each bus performed over the two days of the show 👇

Cenex Expo day 1 completed. A great day of connecting with the wider low carbon and EV industry peers and what better way to end it than travelling back to the car park in an Equipmake repowered bus, one of five supplied by FirstGroup plc for the event! If you're at the event tomorrow, try to get on one and why not find us on stand C3-222 to find out how we can support repower and power train supply for #BEV #Hybrid and #FCEV programmes.
