One of our core values is “Do The Right Thing.” Operating in nine countries with 134 clubs and over 11,500 team members, we take our role as an employer seriously. We ensure that every team member feels seen, heard, and supported, regardless of their background. We see our people as a wonderful mix of talents and backgrounds and so we look to bring in team members from all walks of life at all levels. We believe that having a variety of experiences and perspectives sparks innovation and success. This means not only recruiting inclusively but also creating a culture where diversity is celebrated. Equity is about ensuring that everyone has a fair opportunity, regardless of personal characteristics, beliefs, or preferences. We implement measures to make our hiring and career advancement processes equitable for all. This includes dismantling barriers that may limit opportunities for some individuals and ensuring that career progression is based on skills and potential rather than background or personal traits. Inclusion means ensuring everyone feels welcome and valued. Our Inclusion Resource Groups (IRGs) play a vital role in this. These networks bring together team members based on shared characteristics or experiences such as nationality, disability, ethnicity, sexuality, and gender—and provide opportunities for team members to connect and advocate for inclusive practices. By promoting dialogue and understanding, these groups help us cultivate an environment where every unique perspective can thrive, ultimately driving innovation and collective success. Fostering belonging in the workplace requires open communication. That’s why we’ve invested in DLConnect, an employee communications app designed to facilitate interaction across the nine countries in which we operate. This multilingual platform provides company news, culture-building initiatives, and productivity tools to help teams connect and engage. We also listen to our team members. Through our local Club Do Good Forums and biannual engagement surveys, we ensure that everyone has a voice and can share their experiences. In our latest survey from October 2024, 84% of our team members said that they would recommend us as a great place to work. Saying thank you is fundamental to our culture. We recognise service anniversaries and implement a ‘Team Member of the Month’ scheme to celebrate individuals who deliver exceptional member experiences. At the end of the year, each club chooses the team member who has made the most significant impact and invites them on an all-expenses-paid trip overseas with fellow winners. This year, we were proud to be recognised as one of The Sunday Times’ Top 10 Very Big Best Places to Work in the UK for the second year running and to achieve Silver Accreditation by WiHTL for our commitment to Inclusion. We extend a huge thanks to our amazing teams for making David Lloyd Clubs so special. #DLCProud #diversity #inclusion #employees

On Sunday, our Luton club ran an event for visitors to learn CPR with the British Heart Foundation and meet footballer Tom Lockyer. The event included family friendly educational activities such as worksheets for kids to help them memorise their address, as well as other steps they would need to take if they ever had to call emergency services. It was a fun filled day with bouncy castles and face painting for kids to enjoy, whilst educating families on the importance of life saving actions. The club ran several CPR sessions for people of all ages, including Tom who also got involved. The event was a great example of how at David Lloyd Clubs we’re all about supporting local communities and raising awareness for important causes. Well done team Luton! #BritishHeartFoundation #DLCProud #Community #Awareness

This upcoming Friday is World Menopause Day. The purpose of the day is to raise awareness of the menopause and improve health and wellbeing. At David Lloyd Clubs, we’ve created a Women’s Inclusion Resource Group (IRG), whose aim is to highlight and improve the unique challenges facing women in our workplace and industry. Hormone health including menopause and periods aren’t spoken about enough in the workplace and so we want to really start those conversations. To do that, our women’s IRG partnered with @overthebloodymoon who create educational materials around this topic. We had a very productive first session hosted by the team at Over the Bloody Moon that helped open up conversations around menopause and periods and raised awareness of some of the challenges our female workforce face. #worldmenopauseday #womenatwork #DLCProud

We had an incredible time hosting our special Padel event at David Lloyd Clubs Manchester Trafford! 🎾 Padel is the fastest-growing sport in the UK, and now with 125 courts across our Clubs, we're investing to meet the rising demand. It was an honour to welcome an amazing mixed group of sports personalities and VIPs including football legend Nicky Butt and comedian Jason Manford, to experience first-hand why this sport is taking the nation by storm. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this event such a success! We’re looking forward to seeing even more of you on the courts soon. #Padel #FastestGrowingSport #DavidLloydClubs #ManchesterTrafford

We are proud to announce that the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has approved David Lloyd Clubs near-term and long-term science-based emissions reduction targets and verified our net-zero science-based target by 2030. SBTi is a global body that enables businesses to set ambitious emissions reduction targets in line with the latest climate science. The initiative focuses on accelerating corporate efforts worldwide to halve emissions before 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions before 2050. It is a collaboration between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, the World Resources Institute, and the World Wide Fund for Nature. The urgency of the climate crisis is well-documented. The latest report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has been described by the United Nations as a “code red for humanity.” These findings show that while it is still possible to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C, we are perilously close to exceeding this threshold. Tackling the climate crisis necessitates rapid and profound cuts in emissions, and the SBTi is playing a crucial role in guiding and validating corporate strategies to ensure they align with scientific demands. SBTi has approved our near-term and long-term science-based emissions reduction targets, ensuring steady progress towards our goals. In the near-term, we aim to reduce our absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 90% by 2030 from a 2022 base year. From 2030 through 2050, we have further pledged long-term targets, including maintaining at least a 90% reduction in absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions, as well as Scope 3 GHG emissions, from the 2022 base year. As a company, we have already implemented several initiatives that significantly reduce our carbon footprint. Over £20 million has been invested in energy-efficient technology and utility-related schemes across our Clubs. This includes installing low-energy LED lighting on David Lloyd Clubs tennis courts and comprehensive upgrades to heating and cooling systems, resulting in a reduction of over 10,000 tonnes of CO2. Additionally, we have allocated £30 million to install solar panels on Club roofs, and we expect to complete the first 40 Club installations by the end of this year, which will typically generate between 20% and 35% of each Clubs' electricity requirements. We have also transitioned to purchasing green energy across our Clubs in the UK and Europe, with 100% of grid electricity in the UK now sourced from renewable sources. By adhering to SBTi’s rigorous standards and continuing to implement innovative sustainability initiatives across our clubs, we aim to lead by example in the health, fitness, and leisure sector. No matter how big or small, every single one of us can make a positive impact, and this will be crucial if we are going to achieve our Net Zero commitment. We know there is a lot more to be done and we’re on the path to delivering a sustainable future. #DLCProud #sustainability
