🚀 Empowering Business Success from Within | CEO & Founder at CoEfficient | Pioneering Human-Centric Tech Solutions Globally | Driving Innovation & Collaborative Growth | Putting People First for Lasting Impact 🤝

As we close out another year, I wanted to share this powerful message from Sarah McArthur: "Love and be loved—in that order." Sarah’s words resonate deeply with everything we stand for at CoEfficient. They remind us of the importance of leading with kindness, connection, and an open heart—not waiting for others to act but taking the first step ourselves. This sentiment captures the very essence of why we do what we do: creating workplaces that foster trust, belonging, and mutual care. Because businesses, at their core, are simply groups of people striving to make life better for others. Thank you, Sarah, for such a thoughtful and moving reminder of what truly matters. May we all carry this spirit into the new year ahead. #LoveAndLeadership #PurposeDrivenBusiness #WorkplaceWellbeing

There are nearly 2 million people working across the UK’s Local Government sector to ensure that families, individuals, communities and businesses can access essential services and obtain help when and where they need it. They work within tightening financial constraints, tackling increasing social demands, and ever growing public expectation. Yet their commitment often goes unnoticed, overshadowed by a predominantly negative media narrative that thrives creating division. In this challenging environment, the wellbeing and mental health of those at every level of the system are too often overlooked—despite being vital to sustaining the essential services on which our communities depend. Generic wellbeing support does not make a difference to people but targeted intervention does. To aid the local government sector in supporting its people, providing targeted support and intervention, and in making a difference in people's lives we are launching the UK Local Government Wellbeing Survey. In partnership with our friends at Truth about Local Government and CoEfficient, the survey has been designed and developed with experts in psychology, leadership, and workplace wellbeing. It takes approximately 5-7 minutes to complete and is open to local authority employees from front line service provision to CEO. Participation is completely anonymous, and we encourage you to share it with your network to ensure broad representation. To take the survey now, simply visit the link in the comments. The findings of this research will be shared in early 2025, providing a roadmap for improving wellbeing across the sector. Together, we can create a sector where every employee thrives, and where the vital work of Local Authorities can continue to make a difference in the lives of the communities they serve. You'll find a link to the survey in the comments and on our website. #LocalGovernment #MentalHealth #Wellbeing

This week we shamelessly trail our upcoming #LocalGovernmentWellbeing survey... ...explore productivity and wellbeing...are they really incompatible? ...ask ourselves if the government's £240m can elevate UK employment. ...look at AI and skills development. ...and did we mention we'll be launching a survey focussing on Local Government's most valuable asset? More on that next week but thanks in advance to our partners Truth about Local Government & CoEfficient Matt Masters John Hibbs

  • The Challenges of Engagement in 2024: How Can We Support Our People? It's no surprise that engagement levels are dropping in today's workplaces. After all, the early 2020s have been marked by significant upheaval—pandemic disruptions, the Great Resignation, and the rise of hybrid work have left many employees feeling more disconnected than ever. But how can we, as leaders, reverse these trends? At CoEfficient, we understand that businesses are not just companies—they are people. Engagement isn’t just about having a nice office or new tech; it's about connection, clarity, and belonging. It’s also about creating an environment where our people feel heard and supported—because without happy employees, you can't have happy businesses. Here are some key takeaways from what we’re seeing in the workplace today: 1️⃣ Fallout from the Great Resignation: New team members and remote work have changed how we build relationships. In-person connections are still powerful—whether it’s for problem-solving or simply understanding each other better. 2️⃣ Hybrid Work: Remote work has been a game-changer, but it’s not without its challenges. We've found that employees in the office 40-60% of the time have higher engagement and wellbeing. 3️⃣ Manager Burnout: Managers are expected to do more with less. Giving them the tools and training to lead effectively is essential. 4️⃣ Lack of Clarity: Clear communication and regular feedback are vital. We need to give our people a clear purpose and goals. 5️⃣ Development: Investing in your people’s growth not only boosts engagement, but it also retains talent. Opportunities for development should be a priority. In 2024, we see businesses as connected to their communities, where the health of one impacts the other. By harnessing the hearts and minds of our people, we can create meaningful, positive change in both business and society. Let’s focus on measuring performance from the human perspective to move forward stronger together. 📣 This has been inspired by Erin Ellis article for Stewart Leadership. Link in the comments. 📣 Another shout-out to Mike Mair for being the dot connector. #Leadership #EmployeeEngagement #WorkplaceCulture #BusinessGrowth #CoEfficient

  • There's been some concerning chatter recently, especially from across the pond in the USA, suggesting that mental well-being doesn't directly impact company performance. But here's the thing: this argument rests on a very narrow definition of performance - focused purely on immediate financial returns with little regard for the long-term. And it's dead wrong. If you truly care about company performance, you must care about people - and mental well-being is a key part of that. As research shows, people who are stressed or disengaged aren't just unhappy, they're less productive. Ignoring mental health isn’t just bad for people, it’s bad for business. Our definition of company performance is broader - it's about long-term, profitable growth that benefits everyone: employees, customers, shareholders, and the wider community. When you put people first, rather than chasing short-term profits, the world has a funny way of becoming a better place. And the best part? It’s easy to start today. Just take a moment to thank someone for a job well done. Sometimes, a simple "Thank you, I appreciate you," is all it takes. Special thanks to Ryan Hopkins for shining a light on this - with back up from Ben Evans. Let's keep focusing on what really matters - #people.
