Department for the Economy NI Minister Conor Murphy has congratulated local vocational skills students who have once again showcased their abilities on the world stage. Five local students competed as part of Team UK in the global WorldSkills Lyon 2024 competition in September 2024 including two representing Construction and the Built Environment, Issac Bingham (Cabinet Making) and Daniel Knox (Electrical Installation). The Minister held a reception in Parliament Buildings, Belfast, to congratulate the local students who competed. For the first time all the local team members achieved world standard or better.

Recently CITB NI partnered with W5, with support from Cool FM, to talk to Year 10 students about the construction industry as well as the range of job options and qualifications required. School students heard about construction careers, some interesting facts and had the opportunity to try out construction activities. Careers Advisers from Department for the Economy NI Careers Service attended this event to see the activities first hand. The Careers Service is an all-age, all-ability service that provides impartial information, advice, and guidance on career planning.
