We're still reveling in the success of LIVE 2024, held last week in Bristol. 🍾 We are truly grateful to all our speakers, delegates, members, sponsors and partners for facing Storm Bert head-on with less-than-ideal travel conditions and making our 2024 conference such a memorable event. Named in honour of Professor Fred Piper, this esteemed award is presented by CIISec to recognize the Best Student among a distinguished pool of nominees. Each of these students has previously been awarded the titles of Best Student or Best Project by our academic partners as part of CIISec's Student of the Year awards. The selection process involved a panel of three independent assessors, including CIISec board members and industry representatives. After extensive deliberation, a winner was ultimately chosen. We are pleased to announce Edward Motson, a graduate of BSc Cyber Security at the University of Warwick as this years Fred Piper Award Winner! Edward was selected as the winner primarily due to his contributions that extended beyond his academic research. During his internship at WMG, he made significant strides in enhancing cybersecurity education, particularly focusing on research aimed at advancing cyber education for children aged 6 to 18 by identifying growth opportunities within the existing curricula. The panel was also impressed by his dissertation titled “Cyber Warfare in the Russo-Ukrainian Conflict: A Timeline and Analysis of Cyber Operations During the War,” along with his high marks across all taught modules. Once again, congratulations to Edward on winning the Fred Piper Award 2024!
