We are a partnership of people, churches and local organisations committed to ending poverty worldwide.
About us
We stand together. For dignity. For equality. For justice. Everyone is equal in the sight of God. Yet we live in a world where poverty still persists. Poverty is an outrage against humanity. It robs people of their dignity and lets injustice thrive. But together we have the power to transform lives. For over 70 years, we’ve been standing with the poorest of our neighbours. We work in 37 countries, with people of all faiths and none, to stand up for dignity, equality and justice. Together we can create a world where everyone can live a full life, free from poverty.

Christmas time is a wonderful season in South Sudan! ✨ Families come together to celebrate life together but this year it's overshadowed by the devastating impacts of climate change and conflict. There has been terrible flooding that has impacted so many communities, who now need assistance to recover and rebuild. The conflict in neighbouring country Sudan has seen more families arrive to seek refuge each day—with hunger, malnutrition and extreme poverty deepening communities and humanitarian organisations are under exponential pressure. Support our Christmas Appeal so we can continue to work with our partners; to provide much needed relief, shelter, water and food assistance. We thank you for your generosity and your continued support and prayers to the people of South Sudan. 🙏 Donate today 👉 https://caid.org.uk/BJF #SouthSudan #ChristmasAppeal #ClimateDisaster #Flooding #Refugees

Amani and her family fled Sudan as they feared for their lives 💔 On arrival at Wedweil Refugee Settlement, the family were welcomed by our partner Smile Again Africa Development Organisation (SAADO), who provided financial assistance to help rebuild their lives far away from home.. They also received access to water, food rations, shelter and sanitation 💬 'Thank God the first organisation that supported us in this camp was SAADO.’ - Amani. With the cash assistance, Amani started a food stall, which quickly became a success. Now, she and her husband, Rashed, have invested in land, creating a farm that not only feeds their family but also provides produce for their restaurant and extra income. Help support more families like Armani’s while they wait for the end of war 👉https://caid.org.uk/BID #SouthSudan #ChristmasAppeal #Refugee

✨ Meet Baishali (বৈশালী) Chatterjee, Christian Aid’s Global Gender Justice Advisor. With over 20 years of experience, Baishali is transforming how we tackle inequality. She’s ensuring feminist principles and intersectional approaches are at the heart of everything we do. Last year, Baishali led the development of Christian Aid’s transformative Gender Justice Thematic Framework—a bold vision grounded in feminist, intersectional, and gender-transformative approaches. This framework challenges power imbalances and creates pathways toward more just and equitable societies. The most rewarding part of her role is turning her passion for gender justice into real-world impact. 💬 ‘I get to work with an equally passionate and knowledgeable bunch of colleagues every day who are very gender sensitive and are always welcoming my ideas and are ready to hear about my frustrations!' Looking ahead, Baishali is excited about pioneering gender-transformative approaches worldwide through different projects around climate justice, economic justice and violence’s against women and girls. For example, in Malawi where she’s piloting a gender transformative approach, working with women in bamboo value chains. To understand what roles women play in the over-all value chain, their situational analysis and what transformations need to occur. Baishali’s expertise exemplifies Christian Aid’s commitment to building a fairer, more equitable world. Thank you, Baishali, for championing gender justice and inspiring meaningful change! 🙌 #GenderJustice #IntersectionalFeminism #Empowerment

🚨 Gender-based violence thrives in silence and impunity. These harrowing words from gender based violence (GBV) survivors in Haiti remind us of the urgent need to act during this 16 Days of Activism for Gender-Based Violence. Haiti faces overlapping crises—political instability, natural disasters and widespread displacement—that amplify GBV, leaving women and LGBTQI+ individuals especially vulnerable. Systemic barriers prevent justice. Survivors often cannot afford the medical certificates required to report incidents. Harmful norms shift blame onto victims. Weak legal systems allow perpetrators to continue unchecked, perpetuating cycles of violence. We must stand with survivors—breaking barriers, challenging harmful norms, and demanding justice. Together, we can create change 💜 Learn more about this in our research 👉https://caid.org.uk/BHS #EndGBV #Haiti #16DaysOfActivism
