We want to speak up alongside many of the communities we serve to tackle the worsening effects of climate change and protect God’s creation together. The Climate and Nature (CAN) Bill is an opportunity to make history and deliver the bold, science-led legislation we need. 102 MPs must attend the second reading in parliament and vote for the bill to secure its progress into law, and we need your MP to show up for all those communities who are affected by the climate crisis. Contact your MP today and ask them to show up for people and our planet on Friday 24 January https://brnw.ch/21wPuqF

Imagine walking 60km under the scorching Kenyan sun, searching for wild fruit to feed your starving grandchildren. This was Hellen's reality in Turkana, where 83% of the population lives in poverty due to relentless cycles of drought and flooding. Through life-changing support from Tearfund’s church partner, she received three goats – a lifeline for her family. Today, she's part of a women's co-operative, weaving baskets and floor mats, which helped her to start turning her life around. Just £11 a month could provide one family with two goats to help them begin to grow a livelihood after drought. https://brnw.ch/21wPt42

Cyclone Chido made landfall on Sunday 15 December in Pemba, Mozambique, and while early warning systems helped communities prepare, over 20,000 people now need urgent humanitarian assistance. 500 households have had to move to temporary accommodation. Immediate needs include shelter, food, clothing and dignity kits. Please keep praying as Tearfund’s partners continue to respond and provide aid. 🙏
Intense Tropical Cyclone Chido is set to make landfall in Pemba, Mozambique, on Sunday 15 December. With heavy rains and high winds, the storm has a similar intensity to Cyclone Freddy that caused massive destruction in southern Africa in 2023. Around 2.7 million people in six countries, including 1.7 million in Mozambique, are projected to be affected by Cyclone Chido’s passage. Tearfund’s staff and partners in Nampula, Cabo Delgado and Niassa are working with the local church to get emergency messages to people about what they should do before and during the storm to stay safe, and they are coordinating with the local authorities and other aid agencies to be ready to support those affected. Judas Massingue, Tearfund’s Country Director in Mozambique, asks for prayer for our staff and partners and for everyone affected to find comfort and hope in the Lord.

‘You’re changing the lives of people you haven’t even met.’ Safa Hijazeen, Tearfund’s Regional Director in the Middle East, expresses how your heartfelt prayers and generous donations have helped our emergency appeal provide vital aid for families and individuals in need. Thank you for your generous support!

The birth of Jesus reveals God’s boundless mercy, calling us to reflect his love through acts of compassion. ❤️ Today, that same mercy flows through compassionate action, bringing clean water to communities, supporting survivors of violence, and bringing vital aid to disaster zones. Let's ask God to comfort those in crisis, empower his church to show Christ's love, and strengthen our partners who bring hope to the suffering. Share this with someone you'd like to remind of God’s boundless mercy this Christmas.
