NEW PODCAST - How To Boost Your Occupancy. Keeping occupancy levels high in care homes is no easy task. After the problems of the pandemic, staffing shortages and pay concerns, how should care homes go about ensuring they keep residency levels as high as possible? One area they should be focusing on is keeping their sales and marketing efforts up to scratch and embracing the digital age. Hear more in our latest industry-leading podcast, sponsored by RotaCloud. On the podcast Ali (Aletheia) Powell, CEO and Founder of Commercial Acceleration Ltd advises care homes on how best to attract enquiries and ensure those enquiries turn into paying residents. “Take call handling,” says Ali. “Often calls are not answered – 70 to 80 per cent are not dealt with or followed up. Care homes cannot afford not to be efficient. Those calls that are answered are often dealt with by people who haven’t been trained on how best to encourage interest in their care home.” Ali tells podcast host Alan Rustad that care homes should embrace the digital age and use social media and websites to their full potential to boost their occupancy. Maximising a care home’s offering to the public at large needs to be handled in a professional way using the very best skills that marketing experts can provide. They say, you only have one chance to make a good first impression. That is a fact care homes cannot afford to ignore. Labour's budget a failure for social care and care homes Care leaders warn of closures and handed-back contracts after “failed” budget. Care England has called for an urgent revision of the Labour government’s first budget, which it says: “overlooks the financial pressures bearing down on the adult social care sector”. The representative body for English care providers believes the announced new £600 million grant for social care “fails to come close to bridging the gap”. It calls for the Government to recommit to the Market Sustainability and Improvement Fund (MSIF) which identifies a £4 billion deficit in social care and make sustained investment in social care.
