We’ve got history, British Canoeing Awarding Body has over 40 years’ experience in running coaching qualifications and it is the only Awarding Body to offer Paddlesport Coaching qualifications. British Canoeing Awarding Body’s commitment is to the provision of a value-added service via competent and helpful personnel, utilising efficient quality systems and processes. In delivering a responsive and effective service with courtesy, we aim to: Maintain effective communication mechanisms to provide quality information. Solicit customers’ feedback on British Canoeing Awarding Body services on a regular basis to establish customer satisfaction levels. Adhere to the established procedures and quality standards to ensure good practice and consistency. Ensure British Canoeing Awarding Body personnel are competent and motivated to work to a high standard. Day 15 🎄 British Canoeing Awarding Body joins the Federation of Awarding Bodies The Federation of Awarding Bodies is the collective voice of the awarding and assessment sector. It provides access to influence the industry through its governance structure and a platform for sharing high quality provision. Full members are Awarding Organisations that are regulated by public regulators governing qualifications in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland (i.e. Ofqual, SQA, Qualifications Wales and CCEA). BCAB is committed to continually strive to maintain world-class qualifications and awards to learners and look forward to utilising the opportunities that our collaboration with the Federation of Awarding Bodies will bring.

Ho-ho-hope you’re ready for Day 13 of our Advent Calendar! 🎄 In August, we launched the NEW Provider eLearning, focusing on roles and responsibilities. This eLearning is aimed at existing PPA Providers to ensure continual development, standardisation and delivery of our Educational Philosophy. This educational package covers the responsibilities of a PPA Provider, including risk management, with a focus on lone working, safeguarding requirements and regulatory requirements.

Day 12 of the BCAB Advent Calendar 🎁 NEW Racing Coach pathways Since January, Racing Coaches have had the option of two regulated qualifications - ▪ Racing Coach (Sheltered Water) ▪ Racing Coach (Moderate Inland Water) The new pathways better reflect the environments that Racing coaches operate within, enabling those that have already attended a training course to choose the environment that they are assessed in, as well as providing choice to those at the start of their coaching journey.

Enhanced learning opportunities for the Level 4 Performance Coach Award 📚🎁 In line with BCAB’s commitment to providing an accessible and supportive learning experience, a comprehensive review of the Level 4 Performance Coach Award was carried out in early 2024. The changes that will be implemented aim to ensure the programme is both accessible and supportive. These changes will be live from 3rd January 2025.

Gift the gift of tidal knowledge this Christmas! A great present for your fellow paddlers 🌊 🎁 In June we launched the NEW Tides eLearning. This eLearning is for paddlers in any craft who want to increase their knowledge of how tides can impact paddling in estuaries and coastal waters. The course topics include how to find tidal information for paddlesports, tidal flow and tidal windows, depth of tide and how the local environment impacts tides. There are trip planning scenarios to consider and different rules of thumb to predict tide levels are introduced.
