West Sussex Mind and BHT Sussex support 16 to 25 year olds as part of the Be OK service in West Sussex. This is a great example of our partnership approach and our shared passion to improve the mental wellbeing of young people. Together we cover the whole of West Sussex and support the transition from adolescence to early adulthood, offering support to young adults up until the age of 25. Both organisations recognise the level of mental health need among children and young people locally and recognise that this is an area that requires coordination and further resources. First Base provides practical support to people rough sleeping in Brighton & Hove, as well as expert advice to allow people to get off the streets for good. Clients and staff from our Shore House project recently took a trip to the ice rink at Brighton Pavilion ⛸️ Everyone had a great time skating around to festive music and enjoyed a coffee afterwards to warm up ☕

At First Base, people experiencing homelessness can not only access essentials, but also somewhere to socialise and learn life skills. We run a popular cooking group, where current and previous clients cook and share meals together. So far the group has made apple crumble, spaghetti bolognese and beef curry.
