Nationwide membership organisation for businesses across all industries and sectors that want to create a better world

About us

The Better Business Network is the original nationwide membership organisation for businesses across all industries and sectors that want to create a better world. Our network is full of purpose driven Business Leaders who have access to regional and online events, tools, resources and workshops to help them not just grow their business but also increase their social and environmental impact. We recently partnered with the Good Business Club to make us the largest B Corp purpose drive cross sector membership in the UK. Membership allows businesses to use collective action to support amazing projects like Client Earth, Climate Crisis projects and 1% for the Planet while also helping our community increase their individual impact and income. We host the consistently sold out Better Business Summit in partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University. It features brands such as Patagonia, 1% For the Planet, Faith In Nature, Tonys Chocolonely B Lab UK and other purpose driven Businesses. It is a two day conference followed by a day in nature - 'The best Sustainability and Business Conference in the UK'. Hundreds of Business Leaders who wanted to redefine what it means to create a better world join us at our three day event. We look forward to hosting the next Better Business Summit 15th - 17th January 2025.

Quick announcement for Stockport People Planet Pinters. We’re taking a break this month because Manchester is stealing our thunder on the same night. I KNOW. Anyway don’t worry, I’m over it already. Because this month’s Manchester PPP is a brilliant, extra special COPPP29 event that’s acting as a local alternative to the lack of anything really happening on the international stage. We’ve got a speaker lineup featuring Phil Korbel, 👩🏻💻Hannah Cox AND Andrew Ruffler. Plus it’s in the wonderful, new Sustainable Ventures workspace. So you can see why I’m cool with it. Just this once. 🎫 Get ya tickets here, wonderful people: https://lnkd.in/ewv7uaFd

  • 🤔How Can We Influence Wider Change?... We recently launched our new 2024 Campaigns & Brand Activism Industry Report which aims to establish the actions, challenges, and positive impacts that campaigns & brand activism can have in the UK. The report, which was based around the BBN’s ‘Catalyst Conversations’ brings together industry experts as well as publicly sourced available data to provide a cross-section perspective on campaigns and brand activism and its impact on businesses and consumers.  🚀You can download the report on this link: https://lnkd.in/eJrTut2z The report poses the question ‘How Can We Use Campaigns To Truly Create Wider Positive Change?’, with Catalyst Conversation participants bringing their unique insights and experiences to add to the existing data.  Some of the headline findings are: -The majority thought that humour significantly increases engagement with your campaign. Over 60% of participants have used successful collaboration to achieve their campaign outcomes -All agreed that there is no such thing as an unsuccessful campaign -Several thought that smaller campaigns are the gateway to the creating larger change 90% of consumers believe businesses have a responsibility to act in a positive way which considers social and environmental action The report delves into a series of ways businesses can use campaigns and brand voice to create positive change, including increasing one's knowledge; being more transparent; collaborating; being relatable; and how to achieve long-term goals. Each of these provides a unique set of opportunities and risks for businesses to navigate.  We aim to give readers tangible steps to take in order to increase their impact, measure success and create long-term change.  Izzy Howden, Make My Money Matter Senior Campaign Manager “As we see more and more individuals and organisations looking for ways to understand and improve their climate impact, it is fantastic to have tools like the new Better Business Network report that empowers them to utilise campaigns to drive urgent and positive change. We need all sectors - from businesses to non-profits - to play a role in changing the current system to one that will prioritise a liveable future for all.”

  • It was brilliant to head down to Tales to Inspire’s 5 year anniversary event yesterday. As always, it was a session filled with incredible stories from people with lived experiences who really represent the strength of our communities… If you haven’t ever come across Krish Patel, Azeem Ahmad, Madiha Sosan or any of the Tales to Inspire lot - you are missing out. Take a look at what our founder Hannah had to say below!👇👇👇

Helping businesses and live events increase their positive impact on people and planet

Something massive happened yesterday. I healed a huge part of my past. I took the afternoon to celebrate 5 Years of Tales to Inspire, and was thrilled to see Dave Cornthwaite and Stacey Copeland attending Founder Krish Patel event. Most of you don't know that in 2017 I was deep in the Adventure Community with an ambition to become a full time adventurer. I'd travelled the world and was just back from travelling overland from the UK to Bhutan. Dave gave me my first speaking opportunity at an incredible Yes Tribe event in London and I was planning to grow a travel community using the name of my growing blog platform and instagram account. I'd just been on the Tough Girl Challenges podcast with Sarah Williams, and visited her house, meeting the amazing Stacey Copeland and Emma Timmis. Dan Beaumont invited me to Podstel in Romania to share my travel stories. WeWork flew me to Korea for a month to work on my travel business with Havard Business School teachings. I could just blame covid but that wouldn't be true. A combination of fear and self esteem issues meant I gave up that dream. My blog disappeared, my instagram deleted, communities left and my mental and physical health deteriorated. It's taken me two years of healing and therapy to feel truly independent again. Re-connecting with people that believe in me is part of that journey. With Project Salt Run now less then a year away, I feel like an Adventurer again. So glad to be back. Krish Patel you create a space of kindness, acceptance and change which is so important. Thank you for bringing me back yesterday.
