Dear Friends and Colleagues,
It is with profound sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of the untimely passing of our beautiful daughter, Saoirse O’Driscoll, on April 16th. Saoirse, at just 13 years old, brought immense joy to our lives and to those who knew her. The loss of Saoirse has left an irreplaceable void in our hearts.
As we observe Organ Donation Week, we implore each of you to contemplate the life-saving impact of becoming an organ donor. Saoirse, in her final days, was accepted as a recipient into the organ donor program, but tragically, the availability of a heart came too late for her.
Saoirse epitomised kindness, compassion, and happiness. Her infectious smile had the power to illuminate even the darkest of days, and her love knew no bounds. Though she may no longer be with us, her spirit lives on through creating awareness of the possibility of saving others through organ donation.
Organ donation is an act of immense generosity, capable of turning tragedy into hope. It is a testament to the inherent goodness within humanity and a beacon of light amidst our darkest moments.
As we honour Saoirse's memory during this important week, we urge you to take a moment to register as an organ donor and to share your decision with your loved ones. Together, let us continue Saoirse's legacy by spreading awareness and inspiring others to make a difference to the lives of those in need.
My reach is limited but with the help and support of all my friends and colleagues on this platform our collective reach can change lives and make an impact. Please share this post with your contacts and let us give hope to those who need it.
With heartfelt gratitude and love,
John O’Driscoll, on behalf of our beautiful daughter.
OUR SUPERHERO, FOREVER 13
Saoirse.
