Most homes will likely contain lithium or lithium-ion-powered device. They’re used in everyday items like phones, laptops, vapes, and e-scooters, but what people may not know is that they can be a big fire risk. Mishandling, overcharging, and hoarding old batteries are dangerous things to do, as they can lead to fires. At Allianz UK, we’ve seen home fire claims started by lithium batteries double from 2022 to 2023. Worryingly, over a third of people (34%) are unaware of the fire risks these devices pose when being charged overnight. To address this, we’ve partnered with firefighter Angela Everington to provide essential fire safety information and help increase understanding of the risks associated with lithium batteries. Over the last 10 months, our Allianz #MoveNow Festivals have helped 1661 children from 138 schools! Working in partnership with the Youth Sport Trust, we’ve delivered 20 inclusive events for children aged 11-13 and given them the opportunity to try new sports. It’s been a rewarding experience for everyone involved especially for our #TeamAllianz volunteers. They’ve used their volunteering hours to support the young leaders running the activities. We were delighted to welcome Bath RFC Ladies to the Allianz Stadium on Saturday, ahead of England vs. South Africa.
