First up, Bob Keiller took to the stage and spoke to our guests about the progress made since the emergency summit just two years ago. He shared exciting ideas and aspirations for Aberdeen’s City Centre and showcased the hard work from his team of volunteers at Our Union Street. Next up, Matthew Freckleton from Uber announced that he wants to create 1000 new jobs for drivers in Aberdeen. Aberdeen Inspired’s Adrian Watson highlighted the positive impact that NuArt, the Aberdeen Gift card and the Christmas markets have on our local economy. 🎤Ryan Crighton hosted a panel session with Sharon Burgess Alex McLellan Zoe Ogilvie Shona Byrne and Bob Keiller to answer the questions from the audience. 𝐁𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆: 𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐞𝐚 Equinor and Shell have announced that they will combine their North Sea oil and gas assets to create a new company. When the deal is signed off Equinor UK will control 50% of the new firm and Shell UK will hold the remaining 50% stake - creating what will be the UK's largest independent producer employing 1,300 people. AGCC calls for action as report reveals 18,000 Aberdeen jobs gone since 2010 EY ITEM Club's latest Scottish Autumn Forecast paints a tough picture for the North-east, and oil and gas in particular. The report highlighted that Aberdeen's prospects remain "heavily-tied to the oil and gas sector", but notes prospects could imporove with "significant" and "effectively targeted" investment. The industry giant is currently asking loyalty club members how appealing various potential stops around northern Europe would be to them - including the Granite City. Royal Caribbean International owns seven of the 10 biggest cruise ships in the world, and any stop in Aberdeen would likely be a record-breaker. Ahead of the Scottish Government Budget next week, Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce (AGCC) has set out a nine-point plan to grow the country's economy. It is calling for a simplification of Scotland's income tax system, reform of business rates - including immediate relief for hospitality firms - and the relocation of key offshore wind decision-making bodies to Aberdeen.
