Another important contribution of our firm on the common efforts for development of international trade and cross-border investments between the EU and Türkiye. Our partner Arpat Senocak had the pleasure to take part in the European-Turkish Trade and Investment Council, ETTIC delegation meeting the Minister of Finance and Treasury of Türkiye, Mehmet Simsek.
The Board of the European-Turkish Trade and Investment Council, #ETTIC, met with the Minister of #Finance and #Treasury of Türkiye, Mehmet Simsek, at his office in #Ankara for an introduction and update of ETTIC. ETTIC is an initiative of the bi-lateral European Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Türkiye with the aim to advocate the interests of European investors in Türkiye at the European Institutions in Brussels and the public sectors and diplomatic networks in #Europe and #Türkiye. After detailed introductions and an update of ETTIC’s overal activities by the Chairperson of ETTIC, Dr. Markus C. Slevogt, intense discussions were held about the #CustomsUnion, particularly about the urgent need of its modernization and upgrade, which will result in a substantial benefit to both Türkiye and Europe. We thank Mr Simsek for hosting us. His valuable recommendations, advice and guidance will help us succeed in our upcoming visit to the #EuropeanInstitutions and stakeholders in #Brussels. 📢 The Medium-Term Presidential Programme for 2025-2027 has been published in the Official Gazette on 30 October 2024 and approved by Presidential Decree No. 9074. 🌐 The Programme sets targets for aligning Türkiye's data protection law with the EU’s GDPR by 2025, following amendments made in early 2024. It also focuses on enhancing digital sector competition, securing access to the European Energy Labelling (EPREL) database, and establishing national standards for digital transformation. 📌 Our IP team recently delivered presentations at the "Customs Training For Protection of Intellectual Property Rights," held on 15-16 October 2024 in Artvin. The event was organized by the General Directorate of Customs and was attended by numerous customs officers from various Customs Directorates under the Kaçkar Customs and Foreign Trade Regional Directorate and Eastern Black Sea Customs and Foreign Trade Regional Directorate. 🌟These large-scale training sessions were dedicated to the protection of intellectual and industrial property rights at customs. They emphasized our continuing commitment to supporting and educating customs authorities in their crucial role of safeguarding intellectual property.
