Norah O'Donnell is the new anchor of CBS Evening News
CBS News has just announced a major shakeup.
Norah O'Donnell will move from CBS This Morning to become the new anchor of the CBS Evening News, CNN reports. She'll be replacing CBS Evening News' current anchor, Jeff Glor, who took over in December 2017. CBS didn't announce a new position for Glor, saying it is "discussing opportunities" with him.
With this move, O'Donnell becomes only the third female solo anchor of an evening newscast, the Los Angeles Times reports, with the first two being Diane Sawyer and Katie Couric. Couric, a former anchor of the CBS Evening News, congratulated O'Donnell in an Instagram post, calling this move an "important and needed step in representing more than half the population."

CBS This Morning will soon look a lot different, as co-anchor John Dickerson is also being moved to 60 Minutes. Gayle King will remain on the morning show and will be joined by two new co-hosts: Anthony Mason, the Saturday host, and Tony Dokoupil, a CBS correspondent.
CBS' morning show has remained in last place, with its ratings having declined since Charlie Rose was fired over sexual harassment allegations, The New York Times reports. The CBS Evening News has also remained in third place behind NBC and ABC, CNN notes. But CBS News President Susan Zirinsky, who began her position in January, on Monday touted the "start of a new era" for the network.
