The Food Safety Coordinator is responsible for the implementation of food safety essential programs, initiatives, and certifications for the site by leading, coordinating and executing actions efficiently.
You must be able to communicate and interact with all departments and levels of personnel and assimilate pertinent information and data.
This position is responsible and owner of the food safety, quality, and legality of our products.
Key responsibilities include: ● General: o Ensure Food Safety requirements and corporate policies are followed in the facility o Participate in third party (Customer, Regulatory) and internal audits (preparation and follow up as assigned) o Food safety/HACCP Coordinator o Preventive Controls Qualified Individual o Assess and evaluate facility personnel and make recommendations regarding strategies to remedy training, skills, or performance deficiencies ● Specific: o Track Food Safety programs and initiatives results o Track products parameters are kept within critical limits (food safety, quality, and legality) o Execution of EMP swabbing, material sampling, ATP cleaning effectiveness review o Perform trending analysis, statistical data review to develop improvement plans (Environmental Monitoring Program, Pest Control, Sanitation) o Ensure incoming ingredients are sampled, inspected, and approved for use in the plant o Keep Food Safety information up-to-date and well organized o Coordinate HACCP Activities (HACCP, PPR) o Coordinate and participate in internal audit o SOP definition, verification, and validation (SSOP) o Train personnel in general in food safety topics and as required o Root cause analysis using problem-solving tools o Sensory panelist of raw material and finished product ● Quality Related o Ensure data is entered into the Quality Module of SAP accurately and promptly o Ensure the correct transactions in SAP are conducted and completed as required (releases, blocks, returns) o Issue Certificate of Analysis to customers and keep record of the history of recorded analysis results o Perform/participate in traceability and mock recalls o Participate in annual management reviews of the entire food safety program and ensure any corrective actions are completed on time About you: ● Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, or Chemistry ● At least 2 years of experience in QA or QC in the food industry ● Understanding of government regulations relating to food processing ● Knowledge of FSSC 22000 Certification and other GFSI audit schemes ● Knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, Environmental Monitoring and microbiological testing ● Quality System implementation experience a plus ● HACCP and PCQI Certified a plus ● Must be willing to be on call every other weekend ● Must be willing to sensory test chocolate and raw ingredients, including milk and soy What you can expect from Barry Callebaut: ● Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package ● Paid time off, plus 12 paid holidays, plus your birthday off ● Environment that welcomes workplace flexibility ● An atmosphere where diversity is embraced, and inclusivity is second nature.
