We're working to bring the Gemini mobile app to work and school users soon and will publish an announcement to the Workspace Updates blog once the rollout begins.

Use Gemini Apps with a work or school Google Account

Most users with a work or school Google Account have access to Gemini Apps. Feature availability and how your data is handled depends on your Workspace license. 

In the help center, you will find important notifications and tips about info that differs depending on whether work or school users have access to Gemini Advanced or enterprise-grade data protections. Learn how to check your level of access and data protections below.

Important: We’re gradually releasing the Gemini mobile app to users with work or school Google Accounts, so it may not be available to you just yet.

Check if you have Gemini Advanced & what data protections you have

Check if you have access to Gemini Advanced

Gemini Advanced is only available with certain Google Workspace licenses. To check if you have access to Gemini Advanced with your work or school account:

  1. Go to gemini.google.com.
  2. Make sure you’re signed into your work or school account. 
  3. On the homepage, check the upper left .
    • If you find the Gemini logo, without Advanced mentioned, you do not have access to Gemini Advanced. 
    • If you find the Gemini Advanced logo, you have access to Gemini Advanced.

Tips: 

Check if you have enterprise-grade data protections

Enterprise-grade data protections are available with most, but not all, Google Workspace licenses. To check if you have enterprise-grade data protections with your work or school account:

  1. Go to gemini.google.com.
  2. Make sure you’re signed into your work or school account.
  3. On the homepage, check the prompt box for the shield icon .

  • If you find the shield icon , you have enterprise-grade data protections.
  • If you don’t find the shield icon , you do not have enterprise-grade data protections. Your chats in gemini.google.com may be reviewed by human reviewers and used to improve Google's products, services, and machine-learning technologies.

 

Access & requirements for work or school users

Important: To use Gemini Apps with a work account, you must be 18 or over.

How you can access Gemini Apps with your work account, and if you have enterprise-grade data protections while using Gemini Apps, depends on the Google Workspace license that your account has.

How to access the Gemini mobile app

To access the Gemini mobile app with your work or school account, you must have access to Gemini Apps. Check if you have a plan or license that includes access to Gemini Apps.

What you cannot do in the Gemini mobile app

If you are using a work or school Google Account, some Gemini mobile app features aren’t available.

The following features are not available for users with a work or school Google Account:

  • Gemini Live
  • Features that are powered by Google Assistant, such quick voice action features
  • Users with a work or school Google Account cannot delete chats or create public links for chats

These features are not available in the Gemini mobile app for users with a work or school Google Account:

  • Workspace Extensions
  • Gems
  • File upload

Tip: To use these features, use the Gemini web app.

Troubleshoot error messages in the Gemini mobile app

If you get an error message when you try to access the Gemini mobile app with a work or school account, check the troubleshooting steps below:

  1. Make sure that you have the most recent version of the Gemini app. In your app store settings, check if there’s an upgrade for the Gemini app.
    • If there’s an upgrade available, upgrade to the latest version.
    • If there isn’t an upgrade available, move to step 2. 
  2. Contact your Google Workspace administrator to confirm you have access to Gemini Apps.

Activity for users with a work or school Google Account

Manage & delete Gemini Apps activity

For users with a work or school Google Account and access to Gemini Apps, Gemini Apps Activity is on and can’t be turned off and you can’t delete your Gemini Apps activity.

  • Your Gemini Apps Activity includes activity from the Gemini web app and the mobile app. When you delete your chats with Gemini for Workspace inside a Workspace app, this does not delete any information that is saved to your Gemini Apps Activity.
  • Currently, if you use the Gemini web app or mobile app with your work or school account, your Gemini Apps Activity is turned on and your conversation history is retained for 18 months.

Important: For work users who have access to Gemini Apps as an additional service, while Gemini Apps Activity is on, Google collects your Gemini Apps conversations and other information you provide to improve and develop Google products and services and machine-learning technologies. Learn more.

  1. On your computer, go to gemini.google.com.
  2. Click Activity .
