TV Remote MDM payload settings for Apple devices
You can configure TV Remote settings for Apple TV devices enrolled in a mobile device management (MDM) solution. In addition to controlling Apple TV with the Siri Remote, you can control Apple TV using the Apple TV app or from the Control Center on iPhone and iPad devices.
Use the TV Remote payload to restrict both connections from the Apple TV app to an Apple TV, and displaying available Apple TV devices in the Apple TV app.
The TV Remote payload supports the following. For more information, see Payload information.
Supported payload identifier: com.apple.tvremote
Supported operating systems and channels: iOS, iPadOS, Shared iPad device, tvOS.
Supported enrollment methods: Automated Device Enrollment.
Duplicates allowed: False—only one TV Remote payload can be delivered to a device.
You can use the settings in the table below with the TV Remote payload.
Setting | Description | Required | |||||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Allowed remotes | Add the MAC addresses of permitted iPhone and iPad devices that can control the Apple TV remotely. If this list is empty, any remote is allowed to connect. | No | |||||||||
Allowed Apple TV devices | Add the MAC addresses of permitted Apple TV devices that can be controlled by iPhone and iPad devices. If this list is empty, all available Apple TV devices are displayed to all iPhone and iPad devices. | No | |||||||||
TV device name | The name of an Apple TV device that an iOS or iPadOS device is permitted to control. | No |
Note: Each MDM vendor implements these settings differently. To learn how TV Remote settings are applied to your devices, consult your MDM vendor’s documentation.
