Cinnamon Hills' Teachers help at-risk Students age 12-17 develop the skills to become critical thinkers, problem solvers, and productive members of society.
You manage the class and teach Math.
Youth Workers establish and maintain a safe environment for Students to learn.
As a Math Teacher, you will develop a learning rapport with Students and colleagues, motivate Students to develop attitudes and knowledge that will help them grow to their potential, plan, and teach core subjects according to Cinnamon Hills' State of Utah approved core curriculum.
Your creative lesson plans will be individualized to Student needs to help them develop to their potential.
Special Education Endorsement is preferred, but _*not required.
*_ _*WHAT YOU'LL BRING:*_ * *A current teaching credential in the State of Utah, with a Mathematics endorsement, OR, the ability to quickly become certified in Mathematics, AND, the ability to teach Math I, II, & III, *as outlined in the Utah State Board of Education's Core Curriculum.
* Teach Students to be good students, good classmates, and to have good citizenship.
* Meet regular, reliable, punctual, and predictable attendance requirements.
* Utilize Cinnamon Hills' instructional framework to provide engaging instruction based on core standards.
* Provide individualized and group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of Cinnamon Hills' Students.
* Develop lesson plans and instructional materials.
* Provide individualized and small group instruction, adapting curriculum to Student needs.
* Translate lesson plans into exceptional learning experiences.
* Work with Youth Workers to establish and maintain standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
* Evaluates student’s academic and social growth, maintains appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
* Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in helping students solve health, academic, social and psychological challenges.
* Maintain professional expertise through in-service education activities provided by the school district and self-selected professional growth activities.
* Be a positive role model.
* Participate in faculty meetings and instructional professional learning communities.
* Requires the ability to work as a member of a team as well as the ability to work independently with little direct supervision.
* Responsible for other duties as assigned.
*POSITION REQUIREMENTS:* * Bachelor's Degree.
* Current State of Utah Teaching Certification with Mathematics Endorsement *OR* * The ability to become certified in Math, *AND* * The ability to teach.
*EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:* * Teaching experience beyond student teaching is preferred, but not mandatory.
* Experience working with at-risk youth is also preferred, but not mandatory.
*WAGES AND BENEFITS:* * Excellent Pay, based on experience and qualifications.

This provides each student with the opportunity to engage effectively in the full scope of academic and therapeutic services.
Our mission focus is to provide quality educational, therapeutic, and behavior support services for students at risk.
Cinnamon Hills is a nonprofit corporation licensed by the Utah Division of Human Services and the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
Cinnamon Hills is accredited by the Northwest Accreditation Commission functioning as a non-public school and is certificated through the Utah State Office of Education and the California Department of Education.
_*SCHOOL PURPOSE*_ To provide a positive atmosphere where students may gain a high school education, acquire new talents to become lifelong learners, develop skills necessary to live independently, and become positive contributors to society.
_*EXPERIENCES FROM OUR TEACHERS*_ “Often I ask my new students if they went to class every day at their home school and worked.
This boy in the 10th grade told me this, ‘I used to hang-out in the bathroom at school all day, now I’m so excited to go to school, I really like it, I can actually read stuff.
I can hardly wait to go to class.
’ This student began below a Kindergarten level, a non-reader; he is now reading on a mid-3rd grade level, he is in his 3rd quarter of an Pre- Algebra course, with an A grade, he has also learned to write beautifully in cursive while being at Cinnamon Hills, and he is enjoying learning.
” “One summer, our English teacher had students reading and studying Romeo and Juliet in English class.
Three students I had worked with extensively were in his class and finally they agreed to take their turn reading.
One of the students really hammed it up, he read so well the other students actually cheered for him when he was finished reading.
WOW! Talk about improvement.
