Job Description: Southern Utah University is an accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD) and invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Digital Foundations.
This full-time, tenure-track-eligible position* is a key role within our Filmmaking, Art, and Design Department.
The successful candidate will be a crucial component of our innovative, cross-disciplinary faculty-possessing the aptitude to foster collaboration among diverse groups.
Our program boasts a rich curriculum and state-of-the-art facilities.
The position will commence on August 16, 2023, with a salary that aligns with qualifications and experience.
Rank and tenure-track-eligibility are contingent on qualifications.
Date of first consideration: 01/19/2024 Duties and Responsibilities: Instruct courses in digital drawing, foundations of design, 4D courses, and other related subjects - equivalent to 12 Student Credit Hours (SCH).
Oversee the Digital Foundations Courses and manage related resources.
Advise students entering into the graphic design program.
Provide mentorship for student projects.
Engage in departmental, college, and university committees and service initiatives.
Tenure-track candidates are expected to partake in peer-reviewed creative/scholarly pursuits.
Education and Experience Requirements: Assistant Professor candidates should hold a terminal degree (M.
F.
A.
or Ph.
D.
) in digital arts, design UX/UI, or related fields.
Individuals with non-terminal degrees but having a minimum of 5 years of significant industry experience may be considered for an Assistant Professor, non-tenure track (NTT) position.
Other Requirements: Demonstrated expertise in digital drawing and design, with a proven ability to leverage this expertise in guiding student learning.
Professional experience in either traditional or digital foundational arts.
A verifiable track record of achievements in exhibitions, digital showcases, or other relevant platforms.
A staunch commitment to exceptional teaching in a team-oriented environment.
Solid evidence supporting dedication to the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Desirable Experience: Prior experience in curriculum development is highly regarded.
Active participation in professional associations related to digital art and design.
Professional work in a design-related industry.
Documents: Teaching portfolio including examples of student work & sample syllabus.
