Job Description:
Southern Utah University is an accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD) and invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor for its BFA in Filmmaking degree.
This is a full-time, tenure-track-eligible position.
Candidates will join a dynamic, cross-disciplinary faculty.
This is an interdisciplinary NASAD-approved program with an existing curriculum and new facilities.
The start date is August 16, 2024 and the salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Tenure-track-eligibility is dependent on qualifications.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach various forms of film production, directing, business of film and its application, producing for the screen, and at least one other area of interest.
Assigned courses are negotiable based on skill set.
Mentor student projects.
Participate in department, college, university committees and service.
Tenure-track candidates must participate in service and peer-reviewed creative/scholarly activities.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Assistant Professor, tenure-track candidates must have a terminal degree (M.
F.
A.
or Ph.
D.
) in film or related areas.
A candidate with a non-terminal degree, but with at least 5 years professional industry experience, may be considered for Assistant Professor, non-tenure track (NTT).
Must have professional experience in the practice of making films with the ability to draw upon expertise in the industry in guiding student learning.
Experience in the business of filmmaking-either independent or mainstream.
Record of achievement in film festivals and/or other outlets.
Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching in a collaborative environment.
Evidence of commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Desirable Experience:
Participation in professional filmmaking associations.
