*This position has been posted within the assigned pay range through Step L.
Step M has not been published as this is considered the longevity step, in alignment with state HR compensation rules.
Position(s) at this location will also receive 5% Premium Pay for facilities open 24 hours per day.
Employees must physically work at the facility three days per workweek to qualify.
The 5% Premium Pay is in effect until June 29th, 2025.

These locations provide Medicare and Medicaid nursing home care to honorably discharged Veterans, including, in some instances, their spouses, widows, or Gold Star Families.
As the Cook 2, you will provide quality food and service to the residents of the Spokane Veterans Home.
This includes preparing and cooking food per standardized menus on your shifts.
In addition, you'll be responsible for maintaining proper record keeping and performing preliminary preparation necessary for the next day’s meal.
Your supervisory skills are needed on our team to lead staff on tray line assembly and ensure safety precautions and sanitation needs are being met.
Cultivate your culinary career and put your customer service skills to work by serving America's heroes! Duties Some of what you will be doing: Preparing and cooking main entrées as directed; following standardized recipes and therapeutic diets; ensuring that all diets are followed.
Anticipating and performing preliminary preparation necessary for the next day’s meal.
Cleaning and sanitizing work areas and equipment on a continuous basis.
Maintaining telephone log of calls received.
Recording food usage figures as assigned.
Assisting in preparing menus and determining the amount of food needed to meet menu requirements.
Stocking and maintaining clean storage areas as deliveries are received.

gov/ Required: Knowledge of practices, methods and procedures of large-scale food preparation.
Knowledge of food values and nutrition, personal hygiene, food handling, sanitation and safety precautions; care and use of kitchen utensils and equipment; recordkeeping; report preparation.
Ability to: establish work methods and supervise and instruct others in cooking and kitchen work; establish and maintain cooperative working relationship with others; estimate quantities and follow large-scale recipes; follow oral and written instructions.
Preferred/Desired: Two (2) years of experience in institution or restaurant cooking, serving and preparing food.
