#GlobalLeadership 3-Part Series: #1 - Strategic #Technology #Leadership As #SoutheastAsia continues to solidify its position as a global #manufacturingpowerhouse, I've been reflecting on the key challenges and strategic actions #CTOs need to consider during this transformative period. #ICYMI, the Southeast Asia Manufacturing Alliance (#SAMA) was initiated by Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) in collaboration with Enterprise Singapore (ESG). Launched in early 2021, the initiative was designed to bolster Southeast Asia's manufacturing ecosystem by encouraging cross-border collaboration and investment across the region. The key driver behind SAMA is the need to enhance the region's attractiveness as a manufacturing base by leveraging the unique strengths of each Southeast Asian country, fostering #supplychain #resilience, and encouraging partnerships between global companies and local manufacturers. From my recent discussions with industry leaders and my role as President of the Singapore Computer Society (SCS) Supply Chain Management (SCM) Chapter, a few critical areas stand out: 1️⃣ #DigitalMaturity: The uneven development of #digitalinfrastructure across Southeast Asia remains a significant hurdle. For CTOs, advancing digital maturity isn't just important—it's essential for staying competitive in the region's evolving #manufacturing landscape. 2️⃣ #SupplyChain #Connectivity: Enhancing #logistics #infrastructure and connectivity is crucial. Leveraging advanced #supplychainmanagement tools and #predictiveanalytics will help navigate the dispersed manufacturing centers across Southeast Asia. 3️⃣ #WorkforceUpskilling: We must prioritize workforce development, partnering with educational institutions to bridge the skill gap and prepare our teams for the demands of high-value manufacturing. These are just a few of the strategic recommendations I've been sharing with peers and clients as we navigate these dynamic changes. By embracing #digital (#digitization. #digitalization & #digitaltransformation), #innovation, #sustainability, and regional #coopetition, what I called the #DISC for organizations, CTOs can not only enhance their competitiveness but also contribute to the growth and resilience of Southeast Asia's manufacturing sector. As I have Asian heritage from my father, I’ve allways been invested in what’s happening in APAC as it’s in my blood. New technologies such as AI are looking at solving current problems in a new way and Asia is leading the charge with a level of innovation and pace. Facing the turbulence of the Red Sea crisis, we are stepping up and redefining resilience in supply chains. Our CEO for DHL Supply Chain APAC, Javier Bilbao Uzkiano, recently shared with Channel News Asia how we are actively managing the uncertainties.
