I want to thank Taylor Hajek and his team for giving PIVOT Agency & our talent, Lyric, the opportunity to promote Razer Inc.'s new BlackShark V2 for console on Lyric's primary social outlets, including a highlighted stream, which recently debuted on the market! We often hear about "authentic" plug-ins and creators being themselves during a sponsored stream. Lyric embodies this notion and creates a quick, fun segment without realizing it. By leaving his set up and igniting an interactive dialogue with his audience while showcasing Razer's wireless technology, he forges a meaningful connection between himself, his fans, and the headsets' features. It's noteworthy that Lyric typically streams Apex Legends, XDefiant, and the Finals with just a hand cam (he's well-known for his speed, aim, and movement in FPS titles). His viewers getting to see his face through a collaboration with Razer had extremely positive sentiments, including his audience giving him feedback that his mic quality sounded better than his previous setup. All in all, it's great to facilitate collaborations where supporters and fans organically echo a sponsor's message by virtue of the showcased quality rather than adhering to a scripted voice deliverable. My mind's intrigued by the seeming complexity of esports' business side. It simultaneously breaks to see organization, noteworthy of solid business operations, to exit the scene. Not the first one recently 📉 💼 Case example: Acend European esports organization, previously part of Riot Games' ecosystem. Competing in their title "VALORANT". If you are not part of the smallest margin at the top (Tier 1 , call it "semi" closed franchise league ) it's impossible to see longevity for actions. Hence exit , despite being best team in the world two years back. Acend directs criticism towards tournament organizers. What's unique in this setting, is the fact that the games' developer (Riot) is also responsible for tournament organizing. Intermediary is removed, but so seems to be the interest to provide support. It puzzles my mind what could be done to support. Or what the organizations can even offer. On August 28 Bain released their 2024 gaming report. https://lnkd.in/gD-6meN4 It has some nice data, but the insights are shallow. They ignore the two biggest platforms, iOS and Android (Apple and Google are mentioned zero times) which leads to some strange suggestions about how future consumers will get all their games in a single place. That's not possible, as each game platform except Windows has a monopoly owned store, that isn't going to give up their 30% cut. They mention that gaming has become less profitable, but they don't mention Apple's 2021 decision to dumb down ads, which lead to a huge cut in mobile game revenues. They feel the need to state that gamers want to play games with their friends(!), that game companies should know their customers(!!), and that game companies need to keep their titles fresh (!!!), but they don't mention how hard it's become to create a new franchise. They state that game companies don't know how to make cross platform games: "Most game companies will need to make new investments in development and partnerships to make this possible" (?) And weirdly suggest making a game for both VR and smart TVs (??) The are keen on UGC, and point out that 16% of users make UGC, but isn't every Minecraft and Sims gamer making UGC? And aren't 99% of the videos on YouTube UGC? But that doesn't mean anyone can make good content. They do point out that AI should make decent UGC easier. That would be a fascinating topic to explore. They claim that game companies lack professionalism in their marketing, but don't provide any evidence to back that claim, besides pointing out that games cost a lot to market. They believe AI will teach game companies to do more efficient marketing, and I'm sure as AI marketing tools mature they will be widely adopted, but since marketing is a zero-sum game, don't expect any long term increase is profitability. 2 crazy weeks of travelling, culminating in the yolo partners event. Here’s what happened: So I’m back now and going to take some time to catch up. (I promise to reply to everyone soon.) On stage at the Yolo event, I shared the stage with a few other Yolo portfolio companies and spoke about Blask to such an awesome crowd. I explain more about our product and journey - and the feedback is outstanding, but the work is so far from done. My fav quote from stage was: “We literally have just 5% of the features we plan to deliver. With the feedback and support we’ve received, we’re building an industry-driven project, and I couldn't be more grateful to be amongst all of you guys.” But what makes this event so special, is that I met a lot of cool people and exchanged ideas. - I spent more time with Pierre which was a true blessing. It's crazy that you have known a person for probably 4 years now but never realise how much you share in common. You are one of the most incredible people I have ever managed to chat with in this industry, - Then the guys from Forever Network - Nicholas and Alex - you are building a truly incredible and unique media company. It was incredible to meet you in person and hear about your plans. All the best guys! - I’ve been a fan of Dabble and finally got to meet Jon, one of the guys behind one of the most incredible and innovative betting companies right now.
