Many clients have been discussing the benefits of property in Pattaya over projects in Bangkok. They are two very different markets. Director of research and communications at Colliers Thailand Company, Phattarachai Thaweewong, highlighted a heavy flow of investment funds primarily into the three tourist cities of Phuket, Pattaya, and Hua Hin. “Newly launched condominium projects in tourist cities like Phuket and Pattaya are in higher demand compared to Bangkok because many projects close their sales faster. This is a result of the recovery in the tourism market,” Phattarachai said. Tourism is one precursor to this, there is also a long list of infrastructure projects slated in all of these resort focused tourism centers. “Thailand's data centre investment has the potential to grow 15%, giving it the third-largest industry in Southeast Asia, if the government provides more attractive incentives and enhances infrastructure. Phattarachai Taweewong, director of the research department at property consultant Colliers Thailand, said the existing incentives from the Board of Investment (BoI) are insufficient to attract overseas data centre investments. "Attracting investment in the data centre business is an opportunity to drive Thailand's digital economy and add value to various industries," he said. "There should be more appealing incentives to attract large investors from overseas." CBRE Asia Pacific's has launched the 2024 APAC Office Occupier Survey, which features insights from 130 corporate real estate executives across Asia Pacific on the latest workplace trends and implications for the region. The insights from our latest report have been invaluable in understanding how to create environments that attract employees into the office and support their productivity and well-being. The survey finds that managing costs remains a paramount concern. Nearly two-thirds of respondents cited lower rents as the critical factor influencing office lease renewal decisions, while half of respondents reported better lease terms, cost-savings, better amenities, and services are the top factors driving relocation. JLL joins WorldGBC Asia Pacific Network for green building leadership JLL has joined the World Green Building Council’s Asia Pacific Regional Network, reinforcing its role in promoting sustainable building practices in a region, Lili Tao, Managing Director, South East Asia, Project and Development Services (PDS), JLL. JLL (NYSE: JLL) has announced that it has joined the World Green Building Council’s (WorldGBC) Asia Pacific Regional Network (APN). The APN is led by 17 Green Building Councils (GBCs) and three regional partners, representing a region home to over 60% of the world’s population and expected to contribute to over 50% of global GDP growth in the coming decades. The announcement is reinforced by the region’s position at the forefront of adopting green building practices, with several countries implementing stringent green building codes and standards. However, the region is also vulnerable to the impacts of climate change; rising sea levels, extreme weather events, and biodiversity loss are amongst the many challenges faced.
