The CLOB saga of 1988 taught Singaporeans the important distinction between speculating and investing. For the 172,000 CLOB investors, most were trading based on recommendations heard through coffeeshop talk, with no real understanding of fundamentals or strategies. When trading was abruptly shut down on CLOB, it resulted in a painful and drawn-out fight for Singaporeans to get their money back. S&P Global Ratings announced its participation in the Monetary Authority of Singapore‘s (MAS) Project Guardian. This initiative unites policymakers and the financial industry to enhance liquidity and efficiency in financial markets through the use of asset tokenization. As a new member of Project Guardian’s industry group, S&P Global Ratings will collaborate with other financial institutions to broaden asset tokenization efforts. The goal is to leverage the network effect to expand asset tokenization into capital markets. Singapore-based fintech Partior announced the first close of a US$60M+ Series B round led by Peak XV Partners and supported by Valor Capital Group and Jump Trading Group as new investors. Existing investors, such as J.P. Morgan, Standard Chartered, and Temasek, joined the funds. This new funding round will enable new capabilities like Intraday FX swaps, Cross-currency repos, Programmable Enterprise Liquidity Management, and Just-in-Time multi-bank payments. The investment will significantly support Partior’s international network growth and the integration of additional currencies, including AED, AUD, BRL, CAD, CNH, GBP, JPY, MYR, QAR, and SAR, into its network. Hamilton Lane is collaborating with Alta Exchange (AltaX) and Phillip Securities Pte Ltd (PhillipCapital) under the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS)’s Project Guardian to enhance liquidity through #tokenization. The three firms will collaborate on broadening access to the tokenized version of Hamilton Lane’s Senior Credit Opportunities (“SCOPE”) Fund. Listed on AltaX and launched in March 2023, SCOPE is a senior private credit vehicle that offers safety and yield for investors. Data and artificial intelligence (AI) governance platform Atlan has raised $105 million in a Series C funding round led by GIC, Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund, and Meritech Capital. The round also saw participation from existing investors Salesforce Ventures and Peak XV Partners. The round totals Atlan’s raise amount to over $206 million and is now valued at $750 million. 🚀 Osmosis' Ecosystem: Powering the Future of Decentralized Finance At REDeFiNE TOMORROW 2024, a DeFi and Web3 conference hosted by SCB 10X, Sunny Aggarwal (Co-founder and CEO of Osmosis Labs) and Ran Yi (Co-founder and CEO of Orderly Network) discussed the developments and future steps of Osmosis. Here are the key takeaways: . 🎯 Osmosis is a DEX (Decentralized Exchange) platform built using Cosmos SDK (a blockchain application development solution) and customized to meet the needs of dApps built on the blockchain. It enables users to trade tokens across more than 100 blockchains within a single app. Yi shared his positive experience with the platform, highlighting its smooth user experience. . 🎯 Aggarwal expressed particular excitement about Osmosis' work on account abstraction. They have built a native account abstraction system into the blockchain and enabled new features like using Face ID for transaction signing as well as one-click trading. This eliminates the need to re-sign every transaction and will be available in the coming months, with more features to follow. . 🎯 Aggarwal also emphasized the importance of Bitcoin L2, for which Osmosis is developing products to position the platform as a leading DEX in the Bitcoin ecosystem (inspired by the recent Bitcoin ordinals trend). Additionally, Osmosis has launched Concentrated liquidity pools and CLOB (Central limit order book) as well. . 🎯 Within the Cosmos ecosystem, there is increased collaboration and more products working on cross-chain DeFi. Osmosis serves as an Oracle source and provides cross-chain swaps for protocols like UMI and Nullus. . 🎯 The Cosmos ecosystem has also activated IBC (Inter-Blockchain Communication), allowing users to freely transfer assets between blockchains. EVM development is also currently underway. . 🎯 Osmosis is collaborating with several partners, including Axelar, Wormhole, Hyperlane, Router Protocol and Nomic, to connect to networks beyond the Cosmos ecosystem. They are also planning to provide liquidity bridging between different Bitcoin L2s, enabling users to swap BTC between networks without going through Bitcoin's slow and expensive main network. . 🎯 Osmosis also places great importance on improving UX, including supporting deposits and withdrawals from multiple networks, Fiat on-ramp implementation and making limit orders more user-friendly. . 🎯 "Privacy" is a core principle for Osmosis, which Aggarwal believes is the purpose of crypto. Last week, our Founder Esther Wong speaking at hashtag #bloombergwealthforum about 3C AGI Partners' investment philosophy. 1) We are still in the beginning of the new wave, we will focus on the picks and shovels, hence, AI Infrastructure for now. 2) Unlike mobile internet era, the technical moat to understand and discern AI companies are high, AI veterans enjoy unfair advantage as investors. 3) We are seeing disruptors on hardware side already. The average GPU is running at 50% efficiency, we need new inferencing solution and/or better chip design that tailors to model training and edge inferencing. We invested in Cerebras Systems for precisely this reason. 4) Most radical applications likely to be medical and education. AI being a great equalizer, both segment share great inequalities for now, hence significant market potential. 5) Both US and China will remain AI super power and companies will thrive in their respective unique ecosystem. 6) Eventually, the most important programming language will be English, and the marginal cost of intelligence will be zero, leading to a significant bigger overall AI led market opportunity than we currently define.
