On the Southeast Asia Horizon 🌏 As part of the Tech For Good Institute's mandate to raise awareness about key research in the digital economy in Southeast Asia, we bring you important research findings from local think tanks across the region! In a policy brief released by the @Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) are identified as key drivers of ASEAN connectivity and crucial stakeholders in the digitalisation of the economy. The brief also highlights potential areas for growth that MSMEs can leverage to further advance economic expansion, as well as possible pitfalls that might obstruct MSMEs’ efforts at enhancing ASEAN connectivity and interoperability. 🔄 The brief resonates with TFGI’s From “Tech for Growth” to “Tech For Good” report, where our research recognised the common objective of advancing the digitalisation of MSMEs across Southeast Asia’s governments when it comes to digital transformation. This underscores the central role of MSMEs in digitalisation efforts and in the digital economy. 🌐 Swipe through the slides or check out the links below to find out more about the vital role of MSMEs in ASEAN’s digital economy 👉 🔗[ERIA: Empowering Micro Businesses in Southeast Asia: Addressing Challenges and Harnessing Opportunities for ASEAN Economic Integration] https://lnkd.in/g_5iBgxX 🔗[TFGI: From “Tech For Growth” to “Tech For Good”] https://lnkd.in/gmFfxa_s #TechForGood #SoutheastAsia #TechForGood #TechForGrowth #Digitalisation #DigitalTransformation #MSMEs #DigitalEconomy #ASEAN

Leveraging the promise of technology to advance inclusive, equitable, and sustainable growth in Southeast Asia
About us
The Tech For Good Institute is a non-profit organisation on a mission to raise understanding of issues and inform policy so that the promise of technology and the digital economy may be leveraged to advance inclusive, equitable and sustainable growth. Digitalisation is one of the key transitions of this decade. Digitalisation’s general enabling technologies and new business models also play a key role in facilitating other significant transitions, such as the shift to low-carbon and circular economies, and distributed systems of power and information. With a population twice the size of the US and strong demographics, Southeast Asia (SE Asia)’s digital economy is evolving rapidly. Technology has and will continue to have a tremendous impact in aiding the region’s development. We are optimistic about technology’s potential to advance growth, while recognising that innovation shapes and is shaped by cultural, social, political, and economic contexts. The Tech For Good Institute aims to serve as a platform for research, conversations and collaborations focused on SE Asia but connected to the rest of the world. Our work focuses on topics at the intersection of technology, society and the economy, and that are intrinsically linked to the development in SE Asia. Specifically, the Institute will cover the areas of Innovation and Digital Progress, evaluated through the lens of Sustainable Growth for SE Asia. We seek to understand and inform policy with rigour, balance and perspective, through research, effective outreach and evidence-based recommendations. The Institute is a non-profit organisation, founded by Grab, SE Asia’s leading superapp, to advance the vision of a thriving, innovative SE Asia for all. We welcome opportunities for partnership and support, financial or in-kind, from other organisations sharing our vision of leveraging the promise of technology and the digital economy to advance inclusive, equitable and sustainable growth.

⭐ On the Southeast Asia Horizon 🌏 As part of the Tech For Good Institute's mandate to raise awareness about key research in the digital economy in Southeast Asia, we bring you important research findings from local think tanks across the region! In a report released by the Asia Competitiveness Institute, Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, the rise of digital financial services (DFS) in Southeast Asia (SEA) is examined. While the Covid-19 pandemic catalysed the widespread adoption of DFS in SEA, it can be argued that the region was already on a steady trajectory towards enhancing digital financial inclusion before the pandemic struck. 📈 This is corroborated by the Tech For Good Institute’s ‘Digital Financial Services for Financial Inclusion in Southeast Asia’ report, which sought to understand the adoption of DFS across the SEA-6 region. The report similarly reiterates the role of the Covid-19 pandemic in accelerating the adoption of DFS, and further illustrates policymakers’ and providers’ responses to this phenomenon. ⚖️ Swipe the slides below or read the reports linked below to explore more insights about DFS adoption in SEA from both institutes! ⏩ 🔗[Asia Competitiveness Institute: Pandemic-catalysed Digital Financial Inclusion: Evidence from the ASEAN Payment System] https://lnkd.in/gv4G6BuP 🔗[Tech For Good Institute: Digital Financial Services for Financial Inclusion in Southeast Asia] https://lnkd.in/gqDDMiR9 #TechForGood #SoutheastAsia #ASEAN #FinTech #DigitalFinancialServices #Epayments #FinancialInclusion #Finance #Inclusivity #Growth
