I was recently invited by e2i, Employment & Employability Institute to be a part of a fireside chat with PMETs and job seekers looking for a switch in their career roles to the hospitality industry. It was an honor to speak to a wonderful turnout of 30 job seekers and PMETs & Max Loh was an excellent moderator! I’m thankful for this opportunity to share more on the hospitality industry, a little on our company’s innovative strategies for attracting PMET talent in this day and age where manpower retention is a challenge, especially in the F&B industry which is not exactly glamourous. I also shared on the various exciting job opportunities in our group ranging from restaurants, to catering to hospitality-related event services in our companies Manna Pot Catering Pte Ltd The White Tiffin Divine Artisan Flora Artisan Manna Weddings & the The Blue Tiffin. Lastly I shared some of my tips to maintaining work-life balance while juggling motherhood. The honest truth is that there is no work-life balance when you’re your own boss, and quite truthfully a four month maternity leave is a luxury that employees have & as an employer we don’t. My mindset is to simply HUSTLE & ‘just do it’ in order to get a breakthrough in your career/ entrepreneurial pursuit. Some practical tips include: • Allocate solid quality family time (where you put aside your phone & focus on the kids) • Work with your partner / ‘village’ & share the load of parenthood by delegating certain responsibilities of care-giving. • Grind & push boundaries - prioritise what’s important & do so with some sacrifices (ie. sleep/ leisure activities) that has to be made.
