Stockholm Exergi signs 3.33M ton permanent CDR contract with Microsoft, largest in market The agreement represents the world’s largest permanent removals deal to date. The deliveries of the carbon removal certificates to Microsoft are planned to start in 2028 and continue for a period of ten years. Will be from bio-energy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS) at Värtan, Stockholm. The plant will permanently remove up to 800,000 tonnes of CO₂ from the atmosphere per year. Pine Gate Renewables announces a $650 million total investment from Generate Capital The investment provides funding to accelerate Pine Gate’s work as a national developer, owner, and operator of clean energy projects and will support the financing of an incremental three gigawatts (GW) of clean energy infrastructure by 2025. Pine Gate’s operational fleet includes over 100 solar facilities accounting for more than two gigawatts (GW) of installed capacity and it has over 30 GW of projects in development. Developer energyRe gets US$240 million for solar-plus-storage project Will fund the 108MWdc/198MWh Lone Star solar-plus-storage project in South Carolina. Bank of America provided a $85 million tax equity commitment, while Santander committed a $155 million for project financing. The latter includes construction debt, a tax equity bridge facility and a letter of credit facility. AiDash Closes its oversubscribed Series C funding round at $58.5 Million Round drew in additional investors, including leading PE firm The Lightsmith Group Group, Marubeni Corporation, Duke Energy Corporation, and Sabancı Ventures. It positions the company to successfully execute on its global growth ambitions. Danish climatetech startup raises €5 million to accelerate global decarbonization efforts Electricity Maps, a Copenhagen-based climate-tech startup, recently secured €5 million in funding from climate-focused funds Transition and Revent. In our view it’s just a matter of time before high intergrity #VCC’s are allowed to offset cement and steel production. The accounting will be figured out. #carbonsequestration through responsible agriculture - re introducing industrial hemp and linen back into the Polish economy is the route we have taken. Low Capex, returns high enough to attract qualified investors, high global demand for the crops, and the ability to execute now are key.

Getting a job in climate is tough, particularly if you are switching industries! I think one of the best approaches is to show your horsepower by solving problems that companies are facing. One of the best examples of this approach that I have seen is the brand audit that Art Lapinsch 🔋🌳🛡️did for Lilac Solutions. I am not a brand expert, but Art's work looks and feels a lot like the work product from major brand & marketing agencies that I paid tens of thousands of dollars for at prior jobs. I particularly loved how Art shows his skills and expertise. - Clear frameworks to guide his work - Careful and thorough analysis - Concise recommendations - Well developed execution plan Well done!! Amazing job!! If you are looking for a job in climate, try this same approach. 1️⃣ Identify a company and role that interests you 2️⃣ Deeply research the company, and come up with a perspective about what is working and what needs improvement 3️⃣ Draft and publish a work product that showcases your knowledge and expertise to help the company achieve its goals 4️⃣ Distribute your work on social media, and (most importantly) email your work to the company and others in the sector with the goal of starting a conversation This is quite a bit of work, but companies (particularly startups) want / need help. So, share your passions, skills, and experience!

💡 Debt financing emerges as a powerful tool for climatetech startups Climatetech companies are increasingly turning to debt financing alongside venture capital (VC) to fund their projects. This trend goes beyond large corporations like Enpal and Northvolt, and presents a valuable opportunity for startups as well. Here's why debt financing matters for climatetech startups: ➡ Beyond software: Many climatetech solutions involve physical components or hardware. Factoring in debt early helps secure the necessary capital for these aspects. ➡ Specialized skillset needed: Understanding debt structures, covenants, and project presentations requires a different skillset than attracting VCs. On Monday we launch our third annual edition of our #NetZeroStocktake at Goals House, with guests including Sir Lord Alok Sharma, COP26 President, Professor Mateus Simões de Almeida, Vice-governor of the Brazilian State of Minas Gerais, Volvo Group's Karin Svensson, and chair Maeve Campbell. Net zero fatigue is a thing, but this year's Stocktake sees surprising trends across both #netzero intent and integrity. We had a great media briefing yesterday with journalists and Catherine McKenna, Chair of the UN Secretary-General's UN Expert Group on Net Zero. We need more and better targets — but we also can't retreat from 'stretch goals' to match the pent up elasticity in clean-energy deployment and investment. The Energy Transitions Commission recently found that if governments reflect existing multilateral commitments and current technological advances in their next carbon-cutting NDC climate plans — due very shortly — ambition could nearly triple. Driven by steeper than expected cost reductions, insurgent low-carbon tech is displacing fossil-powered incumbents at a much swifter pace than anyone anticipated. This year, according to the International Energy Agency (IEA), global investment in clean tech should reach $2 trillion for the first time. Are #Nordic companies ready for #CSRD and aligned with The European Green Deal? Open Sustainability Index, in partnership with We Don't Have Time, released a special report yesterday on CSRD-readiness, focusing on climate reporting and science-based targets of Nasdaq OMX Nordic 120 companies. Some of our findings: ➜ One-third of the companies are well-prepared for #CSRD requirements, with complete and transparent Scope 1-3 GHG emission reporting. ➜ 48.5% of companies report on all three scopes, but 16% need to improve their Scope 3 category disclosure. ➜ 68% have set science-based targets through Science Based Targets initiative; however, only 47% aim for #NetZero by 2050, and 17% have a specific Net Zero target year. ➜ Companies with thorough emission reporting currently outperform in the stock market, yielding a 28% higher return over the past 12 months. ➜ The financial sector lags, with only 24% reporting #investment emissions and 12% setting science-based targets. And why is this important? First of all, to quote António Guterres "The battle for 1.5°C will be won or lost in this decade [...] We must take urgent climate action, particularly over the next eighteen months" Secondly, CSRD - the #Corporate #Sustainability #Reporting #Directive, is approaching fast - with the first batch of companies required to report already on this year’s impacts. Denmark just became the first country to adopt #carbon #tax on emissions from agriculture. This is a step in the right direction and it's good to see that Denmark is leading the way in pricing farming emissions to ensure that its highest emitting sector contributes to green transition. However, when it comes to reducing #emissions from #agriculture, we see examples from around the world of farm lobbies jumping into action to ensure that one step forward is followed by two steps back. This Danish move comes at the time, when the new New Zealand's new government just scrapped its plans to price agricultural emissions. It is a clear example of powerful special interests derailing climate action at the expense of taxpayers. Despite the fact that livestock farming is responsible for half of the country's emissions, New Zealand’s farm lobby successfully delayed any attempts to price or reduce its emissions for over 20 years. I wonder if we will witness a similar backlash against Denmark's tax. Although this tax comes after 5 months of negotiations with the farmers and companies, in this FT article we already see parts of the farm lobby complaining, saying it would hinder technology investments and unfairly target some farmers. https://lnkd.in/ddKq5jd9

Such an essential and valuable Manual for scaling Climate Tech by Contrarian Ventures and EQT Ventures in collaboration of more than 60 companies in the climate space 🚀.
