Accounting Assistant

GEM Technologies, Inc.
(GEM) is seeking an Accounting Assistant to join our team.
This position is full-time and will be located at N3B in Los Alamos, NM.
Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and 1+ years of relevant experience.
Ability to develop and maintain lower-level data merged from the various business systems to support field analysis.
Candidate must have basic Excel experience including setting up a spreadsheet and navigating data.
Ability to communicate well with all levels of management and field personnel both in written and verbal formats Clearance Level Required: Uncleared - Must be able to obtain and maintain a Clearance Per Diem / Travel Authorized: No Overview: Maintains records according to generally accepted accounting practices and company procedures.
Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to general ledger accounts documenting business transactions.
Ensures all transactions are recorded according to company policies and procedures.
Audits time entry data for two unique payrolls, ensures complete data capture of time.
Determines proper handling of financial transactions and approves transactions within designated limits.
Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
Understands and follows accounting control procedures.
Clearance & Citizenship Requirement: To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.
Due to the federal nature of the work, a U.
S.
Citizenship is required.
Desired Skills: Knowledge of General Ledger (accounting) systems & data – Deltek Costpoint preferred.
