Why does the job exist?
The purpose of this position is to process payments and returns so the operations within the Returns Processing Bureau (RPB) are fulfilled.
How does it get done?
This position is responsible for:
* Processing payments to satisfy New Mexico statute 7-1-6, next business day deposit
* Preparing return documents for scanning.
* Entering daily production data and provide summary reports that show production levels for employees.
Who are the customers?
This position serves taxpayers of the State of New Mexico.
Ideal Candidate
The Ideal Candidate will have:
*(2) years experience in bookkeeping, accounting and/or finance of which (1) year in a tax related field.
* Ability to conduct research and review tax information.
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook and Publisher).
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
Minimum Qualification
High School Diploma or Equivalent and three (3) months of work experience in office administration, bookkeeping, accounting and/or auditing.

Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.
Must be current with all tax reporting/payment.
Employment is subject to post offer pre-employment criminal background check to include fingerprint checks and is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage.
Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required.
