Why does the job exist?
This position will supervise two (2) Accountant/ Auditor positions which manage various daily financial activities related to procurement, contracts, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and the general ledger.
How does it get done?
* Management of process workflow affecting general ledger - overseeing two sides of the accounting and auditing within IAD.
Procurement which includes contract and purchase orders and accounts payable which includes vouchers, deposits, journal entries, warrants, etc.
This position will oversee the multiple functions and serve as the second level approver on transactions.
* Assist CFO/CPO with contracts, operating and appropriation budgets, special appropriations, and monitoring of Tribal Infrastructure Fund (TIF) and Capital Outlay (CO) project and grant deliverables.
This position will audit and ensure accuracy on the accounts receivable allocation which includes deposits, journal entries, operating transfers, etc.
* Training of staff to ensure they are properly trained to manage modules in SHARE financial software system, ensuring that staff attend offered trainings conducted by DFA and other relevant cognizant agencies.
Provide ongoing mentorship and development

Ideal Candidate
The agency is looking for a candidate with strong accounting skills, preparing and sending reports/presentations; experience working with Nations, Tribes, and Pueblos.
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing or Business Administration and two (2) years directly related work experience in accounting, auditing, finance and/or budgeting.

Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License.
Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage.
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
Travel throughout the state and occasional out of state travel is required.
