Hourly Driver's Education Driver Instructor **Position begins as soon as hire is complete** Behind the wheel instructors are responsible for working with students that are learning to operate a motor vehicle.
They provide constructive individual feedback and assist students to acquire safe driving skills on the path to obtain their Utah driver license.
In this role, instructors facilitate hands-on driving with students behind the wheel, monitoring their progress and helping them put driving concepts into practice.
Required Education, Training and Qualifications -Applicant must hold a current Professional license, with a secondary license area and a Driver and Safety Education endorsement.
-No Associate licenses or endosrement candidates will be accepted for this position -Current first aid/CPR certification - Must bring proof of current certification to interview -Current 8 hours of USBE approved professional development (as recorded at USBE) - Must bring proof of PD hours demonstrated on a MIDAS transcript to interview -Must have a clean driving record and current Utah Driver’s License.
-ESL endorsement preferred.
Required Prior Experience -Administration of Utah State Road Driving Exam to students.
-Successful experience driving with students in Behind the wheel instruction.
-Experience and knowledge using DEMS.
-Must have successful experience scheduling behind the wheel driving with students, parents, and other instructors.
-Must have successful experience and knowledge of supervising student behind the wheel “range” driving.
Required Knowledge and Skills -Ability to use and implement approved curriculum maps.
-Ability to evaluate student driving progress through various formal and informal assessments.
-Ability to communicate student driving progress to parents through various formats.
-Ability to use DEMS -Knowledge of Utah Drivers education Curriculum.
-Knowledge of USBE and Granite School District Driver Education policies and procedures -Willing to work collaboratively within Granite School District Driver Education staff, parents, teachers, and students.
-Must be able to build a positive working relationship with students, school staff, administration, business partners, parents, and the community.
-Candidate must have the ability to continue a program with strong traditions and have the skills necessary to work with involved communities.
