Position Information Proposed Faculty Rank Assistant Professor Department 00136 - Family and Consumer Studies City Salt Lake City, UT Track Tenure Track New Position to Begin 07/01/2024 Details The Department of Family & Consumer Studies ( FCS ) at the University of Utah invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position to begin July 2024.
QUALIFICATIONS : FCS seeks a candidate who will strengthen our curricular and research capacity in the area of Financial Planning & Counseling and Family Economics.
We are especially interested in scholars whose research addresses issues related to family economic well-being and financial health, preferably with connections to public policy.
Examples of research topics include, but are not limited to: (1) how can financial planning mitigate socioeconomic disparities? (2) how do public policies, such as the SECURE ACT 2.
0, alter family’s financial and economic behaviors? (3) do immigrant and minority groups use financial planning services differently from others? and (4) to what extent does financial literacy and planning impact family well-being? By the time of appointment, applicants must have a doctoral degree in Family Resource Management, Personal Financial Planning, Consumer Sciences, Economics, Finance, and similar fields.
CFP® certification or being on the track of earning one is strongly desired.
Candidates should have an excellent publication and teaching record, commensurate with career stage, and show potential to generate extramural research support.
Teaching responsibilities may include courses in the Financial Planning and Counseling Program as well as topics related to family economics.

RELATED INFORMATION : FCS is an interdisciplinary department dedicated to understanding and enhancing the wellbeing of individuals and the families and communities in which they live.
We examine how the social, economic, political, and physical environments affect families, individuals, and consumers.
In addition to the graduate program, the department offers two undergraduate programs: Human Development & Family Studies and Financial Planning & Counseling.
