The Salt Lake Community College Communication Department seeks a tenure-track faculty member who compliments the diverse population of Salt Lake City.

Under the supervision of the Associate Dean, the successful candidate will teach a variety of courses across multiple modalities, as well as fulfill committee and related tasks as assigned.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties 1.
Demonstrate and support a professional commitment to the Department and College mission and values.
2.
Maintain a supportive attitude toward work, students, colleagues, and administration.
3.
Develop, teach, and coordinate face-to-face, online, hybrid, and remote instruction in communication to include argumentation, public speaking, interpersonal, and more.
2.
Teach a full class load; assess and maintain accurate student performance records; provide students with clear assignment descriptions and grading criteria and respond with adequate and timely feedback.
3.
Utilize diverse methodologies, rigorous assessment, and consistent course content.
4.
Participate in curriculum development, textbook assessment, course and program assessment.
5.
Maintain regularly scheduled office hours.
6.
Advise students on their academic program requirements.
7.
Participate in and serve on department, division, school, community, and/or college committees as needed to assist in policy development, curriculum development, procedures, or other matters that benefit the department, division, school, community, and/or College.
8.
Demonstrate commitment to professional development and commitment to making significant contributions to the Communication Department.
9.
Attend New Faculty Orientation sessions.
10.
If needed, be willing to travel to multiple SLCC locations.
11.
Accept other duties as assigned and attend regularly scheduled meetings.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued Minimum Qualifications 1.
Master’s degree in Communication or closely related field from an accredited college or university by start date.
2.
Demonstrated ability teaching students in Communication subjects at the college/university level.
Preferred Qualifications 1.
Demonstrated experience teaching a variety of Communication courses at the college level that may include Argumentation, Public Speaking, Interpersonal Communication, Communication Theory, and Intercultural Communication.
2.
Demonstrated experience developing curriculum across a variety of Communication courses at the college level.
3.
Demonstrated commitment to improving access to, and retention in, higher education for all students including those from traditionally under-represented populations.
4.
Demonstrated experience in equity-minded teaching practices, serving traditional and non-traditional students.
5.
Demonstrated experience with supervising or advising students.
6.
Demonstrated experience on academic committees.
7.
Demonstrated experience teaching courses in various modalities (online, hybrid, remote) Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 1.
Demonstrate a depth of academic understanding in the field.
2.
Demonstrated success as an educator utilizing proven pedagogical skills, such as HIP (high impact practices).
3.
Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of students, faculty, and staff members from diverse backgrounds, cultures, ethnicities, and abilities.
4.
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to successfully collaborate and establish positive working relationships with faculty, staff, and administration within the department and in other disciplines.
5.
Provide leadership and outreach to area high schools, colleges, and universities.
