Job Description:
Jordan High School is looking for a qualified Head Coach for their Drill Team.
This position may be connected to a teaching position if the school has the availability for the 2024-25 school year.
This job is best suited for someone with significant experience in coaching Drill Teams at the high school level and is adept in developing young athletes while building a strong, positive, and unified team culture.
The head coach is expected to focus on good sportsmanship and excellence in the classroom, to be a mentor, and to train and educate drill team members with the necessary skills and techniques related to the drill team practices and performances that will foster excellence and a winning culture.
The head coach is also expected to serve as a positive role model for all students and will train and educate drill team members in safety and injury prevention.
The head coach will be required to ensure that all facilities and equipment are treated with care in a responsible manner.
The head coach will conduct tryouts for the team and select the individuals who will represent the school in a positive way.
The head coach will also assist in organizing practices by supervising, instructing, and working with all drill team members to direct them in perfecting their abilities and providing them guidance in keeping their skill level equal to that which is required for competition.
This includes, among other things, teaching team members how to react in positive ways under the pressure of practice and competition.
In addition, the head coach will:
Comply with the rules and regulations of the game and with all Utah High School Activities Association mandates and requests;
Communicate to all students regarding the policies and constitution of the team, school, and school district relating to school-sponsored Drill team activities;
Complete reports and forms as required for camps and clinics, scheduling, finances, fundraising, and other administrative functions;
Foster a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment;
Fulfill supervision responsibilities for all practices, locker rooms, games, and team trips; and
Manage all of the team's financial matters in a timely and professional manner and perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Preferred Skills:
Previous drill coaching experience and/or participation at the high school or college level is preferred.
Knowledge of UHSAA Drill rules and regulations.
Candidate must complete 3 required UHSAA courses, new hire paperwork, and completion of Register my athlete/coaches account within 2 weeks of hire and before you can begin coaching duties.
