This position is for our Junior Varsity camp, campers ages 10-11.
May require occasional work with Varsity campers (12-14) and Club U (5-9).

Responsibilities Department Specific Qualifications Previous experience or interest in working with youth Desire and ability to work with children outdoors and in the classroom Ability to accept supervision and guidance Ability to assist in or teach an activity High school graduate or equivalent, or at least 18 years of age.
Job Responsibilities: 1.
Assist in the direction, supervision, and organization of campers in their camper group within activities and throughout the camp in order to meet the intended camper outcomes.
Assures campers are properly supervised at all times.
Apply basic youth development principles such as relationship development, respect for diversity, involvement and empowerment of youth while working with campers.
2.
Develop and implement activities for campers in accordance with the camp mission.
3.
Maintain high standards of health and safety for campers and staff.
Provide care for each camper within your supervision, including recognition of ones own personal health needs.
Be alert to campers and staff needs and assist them with personal and/or health problems; discuss with camp director when appropriate.
4.
Be a role model to campers and staff in your attitude and behavior.
Follow and uphold all safety and security rules and procedures.
5.
Represent the camp when interacting with parents or community members.
Provide parents appropriate feedback and information as needed for their campers to have a successful camp experience.
Minimum Qualifications This is an entry-level position.
Training will be provided.
Must demonstrate an interest in learning about child development and guidance; a willingness to take direction from the assigned teacher; willing to obtain a food handlers permit, TB test, Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) background check, first aid training are required.
Demonstrated human relation and effective human relations skills are also required.
Preferences Previous experience or interest in working with youth Desire and ability to work with children outdoors and in the classroom Ability to accept supervision and guidance Ability to assist in or teach an activity High school graduate or equivalent, or at least 18 years of age.
Special Instructions Summary Additional Information The University is a participating employer with Utah Retirement Systems (“URS”).
