🌍 Empowering Youth for a Sustainable Energy Future: Highlights from the Asia-Pacific Energy Youth Engagement Platform As part of the Thirteenth International Forum on Energy for Sustainable Development, the Asia-Pacific Energy Youth Engagement Platform Meeting marked a step in harnessing the energy and innovation of young people to drive the global energy transition. This dynamic session brought together youth-led and youth-focused energy organizations from the Asia-Pacific region and beyond. These young leaders, representing diverse perspectives, engaged in meaningful dialogue, built collaborative networks, and began drafting a Youth Declaration that will influence policymakers at the United Nations ESCAP Committee on Energy session in September 2025.   🔑 Key Highlights: Discussion Panel: - A vibrant panel of youth leaders and mentors from the UN Regional Commissions and international organizations shared insights on empowering youth for meaningful participation in energy decision-making. Interactive Brainstorming Session: - Participants worked in breakout groups to co-create the foundational elements of the Youth Declaration, aimed at bridging the gap between youth aspirations and energy policymaking. Global Collaboration: - Representatives from the ISETS-ESCAP Global Competition of Youth Voice on Energy Transition and international organizations shared best practices, underscoring the importance of regional and global partnerships. 💡 UNECE’s Commitment: While this session focused on the Asia-Pacific region, the collaboration of global youth underscores a universal truth: young people are not just stakeholders but change-makers in the energy transition. 🌏❄️ Incredibly proud to finally see, touch and speak at the #COP29ArcticPavilion - the result of countless sleepless nights, weekends of hard work, tons of emails and difficult negotiations during the last 2 years. 💫 It’s been my dream to organise an own pavilion in the UNFCCC managed Blue Zone. Considering my expertise, I decided to focus on the Arctic, which proved to be a timely and effective choice! Together with Northern Forum, BRICS Youth Energy Agency and Melnichenko Foundation, we made the Arctic highlighted by the international organisations, businesses and youth, making the Arctic more visible on the agenda of the UN climate conferences. 🇧🇷🌳As many experts told me visiting the pavilion, such a venue is needed not only in Baku, but also in Belém and in other future climate capitals. The second day of the summit concluded with a ceremony officially closing the event and highlighting the youth community's efforts, led by the #BRICS Youth Energy Agency, to outline priority actions for 2025 toward achieving a sustainable future and #SDG7. The session began with a dialogue meeting with Russia's Minister of Energy, Mr. Sergei Tsivilev, where key representatives from various nations gathered. The plenary session featured Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak of the Russian Federation, who coordinates #climate and #energy policy and develops plans to achieve national development goals through 2036. The session included the signing of the "UN ESCAP and BRICS YEA Technical Cooperation Agreement" for #sustainable energy collaboration in the Asia-Pacific region. Curation by THE GEOSTRATA.
