Under the supervision of the Dental Manager and the Dental Assistant Supervisor, the Dental Assistant Float performs the essential functions of a Dental Assistant to all Aviva Health locations as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Sterilize dental instruments and equipment by providing back up coverage for sterilization tech as needed.
Oil and clean equipment; clean dental office and operatory.
Maintain proper infection control procedures; wear required personal protection equipment as per OSHA standards.
Prepare patients for treatment by seating, taking blood pressures, and reviewing medical history; present and witness signatures on all appropriate consent forms.
Review patient chart and ensure all paperwork, x-rays and treatment are current.
Perform routine laboratory work such as pouring and trimming working models; packaging and shipping models to appropriate lab; receive and organize lab cases/slips as they are delivered.
Keep current with software specific for electronic dental records, provide accurate documentation by charting each patient’s oral health, treatment plan, and chart notes; ensure that consent forms are signed by all persons required, report any missing information in chart to supervisor or appropriate staff member.
Prepare operatories for dental procedures; assist chairside by handing various instruments and supplies to dentist.
Prepare operatories for hygiene procedures; assist chairside by handing various instruments and supplies to the hygienist, along with assisting with perio charting.
Produce all x-rays as prescribed by the dentist.
Work at different clinics daily, weekly and monthly.
Follow all Aviva Health policies and procedures.
PSR Duties: Answer telephone, schedule patient visits; register new patients and screen for eligibility, collect financial, insurance or third-party payer information, collect demographic information, and prepare chart; enter patient packet data, verify accuracy of and scan documents; calculate individual patient charges for services, collect payment and explain payment process, record receipts of fees in practice management system; explain treatment plans.
Assist all providers and hygiene team with pre-authorizations, referrals, and prescription requests.
Scrub patient charts and work on Gap List.
Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
High school graduate or equivalent education and minimum 6 months dental experience.
Oregon Radiology and EFDA certification preferred.
Ability to maintain and interpret various records relating to patient care and dental services; prioritizes patient care with regard to time and result.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.
Ability to be cross trained as a Dental Patient Services Representative.
Ability to be flexible and retain special training in call center, health records, insurance coordination, Gap List, chart scrubbing, and referrals.
