"To anyone thinking about reviving or starting a local community: take a page from KRUG’s playbook - start small, gather your crew, and venture forth. 🚀" Spot on!🔥 And if you ever need guidance or support, make sure to reach out to us at Ruby Europe. We’re here to help! Let's build more fantastic communities together!🤝 Check out how incredible the recent KRUG meetup was! #rubyeurope #krug
CEO(Ex-CTO) at Visuality, Founder of Ruby Europe, Ruby Warsaw Community Conference and PLRUG - Ruby Warsaw Meetups
KRUG - Kraków Ruby User Group might just be the perfect example of how to launch (or relaunch) a local community meetup. After a long break, they restarted recently with something small and simple: their very first meetup was just a friendly hangout over tea, coffee, and beer. No pressure. No presentations. Just Ruby enthusiasts coming together to connect. For those of you who’ve played Baldur’s Gate, you’ll remember the iconic phrase: “You must gather your party before venturing forth.” (It hits differently in Polish, especially when read by Piotr Fronczewski 😀 ) KRUG team did this perfectly! They started by gathering their party, creating a space to connect and engage. Building something new is never easy, especially alone. Creating a community is a team effort, and KRUG shows us how powerful it can be when like-minded people take those first steps together. Fast forward to this week’s 4th meetup, they’ve nailed it. 🔥 What started as a small, casual gathering has grown into a mature, thriving community. KRUG now hosts full-sized meetups with 40-60 people regularly (complete with presentations, but still keeping that low-pressure, friendly vibe). I’m proud and incredibly excited to see Ruby communities like this grow. Watching KRUG evolve feels like seeing the blueprint for how new European Ruby communities can start, grow, and thrive. To anyone thinking about reviving or starting a local community: take a page from KRUG’s playbook: start small, gather your crew, and venture forth. 🚀 Thank you, Lucas Mendelowski, Karol Topolski, for the invite! It was amazing to see you all and share the Ruby Europe vision with such a passionate group.

What’s happening in the Valencia region is truly heartbreaking. Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the floods. In light of the situation, the difficult decision has been made to cancel Valencia.rb. We’re in touch with the local community and will continue to support them however we can. We’ll keep you updated with a specific date as soon as the event is rescheduled. Valencia, stay strong! 💔

⏰ Just 6 days left until the kickoff of the Spain Triangle project! It’s the perfect time to introduce our incredible speakers! 🎤 Roman S. from SoftServe - Roman is a seasoned software developer and mentor with a passion for performance and the creator of the Rage framework. His programming journey began in 2010 with C++ and Java, but he quickly found his home in Ruby. As his skills grew, he took on the challenge of developing his own framework - Rage, with the goal of creating something familiar yet fresh, giving companies one more reason to stay loyal to Ruby.` 💬 In his talk, “Modernizing Ruby Systems with Rage,” he’ll dive into Rage's features, the problems it aims to solve, and share real-world results.` 🎤 Genar Trias Ortiz from Factorial - A full-stack developer, Genar is driven by a deep love for using tech to solve real-world problems. Not tied to any single language or framework, he’s all about finding the best tool for the job. He’s passionate about software architecture and is always pushing himself to learn more, especially in the open-source world. Right now, he’s exploring local-first frontend databases and diving into AI. When he's not coding, he’s a big fan of video games, cyberpunk, and sci-fi. 💬 In his presentation, “Life Beyond MVC: Scaling Rails Monolith for Hundreds of Developers,” Genar will explore the power of the Resource Registry – what he calls “the secret sauce behind Factorial” – which enabled him and his team to scale their Rails monolith while keeping it consistent. And last but definitely not least: 🎤 Mariusz Koziel – Mariusz’s programming journey began in 2007 and has led him to become CEO of Visuality . After witnessing the amazing growth sparked by meetups and conferences, he’s on a mission to boost Europe’s Ruby ecosystem through Ruby Europe. 💬 In his presentation, "Beyond Meetups: Creating a Ruby Ecosystem", Mariusz will share the vision behind Ruby Europe and highlight the real, career-boosting power of meetups and conferences. One thing’s for sure: Barcelona.rb is going to be an amazing start! The only thing missing is YOU! Don’t miss out – secure your spot at Barcelona.rb today! And there's more! Join Ruby Europe as a volunteer or get your company involved as a sponsor to gain recognition across the entire Ruby ecosystem! Reach out to Mariusz Koziel to learn more about sponsorship packages and how to get involved.
