💪 Strengthening Disaster Response in Butuan City! 🇵🇭 Help.NGO partnered with the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation to conduct Disaster Communication Equipment Training. This initiative aimed to equip local disaster risk management officers with advanced communication technologies for more effective emergency response. Participants gained essential disaster communication skills, including: 📡 The use of satellite internet, 🔐 Secure messaging, 🛜 and the role of satellite and 5G technologies in providing local internet to isolated areas. ☁️ The training also covered cloud computing solutions, with Amazon Web Services (AWS) playing a key role in enabling these advanced tools for emergency response. 🌐 Bridging the Digital Divide in the Philippines! 🇵🇭 Help.NGO is proud to support the Municipality of Dupax del Norte by installing satellite internet terminals at Yabbi Elementary School through the DOST-Advanced Science and Technology Institute REIINN project. This initiative bridges the digital gap, expanding educational access and reducing costs. At Yabbi Elementary School, 150 students, 12 teachers, and the surrounding community now have high-speed #internet, providing access to essential resources. With partners including the Department of Education, Ateneo de Manila University, and USAID's BEACON Project, we are building infrastructure to complement face-to-face learning and advance the #UNGA’s 2024 Pact for the Future. UPDATE: Help.NGO spent the weekend working with partners in Augusta, GA assessing and planning further deployment of resources. They also addressed connectivity needs, using Intelsat, ensuring stable EOC communication. They are heading to Asheville, North Carolina, which has been heavily affected by power outages, communication issues, and fuel shortages. Intelsat, in support of Help.NGO has deployed both GEO and LEO terminals to disaster recovery efforts in Western North Carolina following the major devastation from Hurricane Helene. These terminals have been tested and reconfigured specifically for first responder, government and public use.
