Today, after Eid, I had executed subsequent meetings with a large group of companies in Pakistan. Alhamdulillah, after the profound experience of Ramadan Shareef and renewed connections with the Creator, I felt a profound sense of purity and faith.. While meeting with strategic key stakeholders in different industry sectors, I felt an even deeper unconditional love towards my clients. This feeling of love manifested in my body language, facial expressions, warm gestures, empathetic attitude, receptivity towards their contexts, and respect for their way of doing things and differences in opinion. Faith diluted any anxiety and nervousness, alleviating the pressure of seeking validation from them. I thoroughly enjoyed the long meetings, deeply engaging in conversations and ending on a positive note. Key lessons: 1. The power of spirituality enriches our way of living and awakens the soul, nurturing our full potential. 2. Love is the pivotal emotion that connects hearts and souls, bridging all differences. 3. The purity we carry within reflects in our body language. Inner refinement shapes the external world. 4. Faith is an enormous power; nurturing it liberates us from fears and insecurities, enabling us to navigate uncertain grounds with openness and positivity. 5. Embracing the joy of moments requires empathy and a positive attitude towards others and their contexts.

Life lesson: Time Management ✨️😇 Yesterday, I missed my bus 🚌 to Faisalabad from Lahore. Later on, I purchased another ticket for the next bus. But due to heavy fog and traffic, that bus was cancelled as well. So, I ended up buying a ticket for this morning instead. All of this happened because of poor time management. One thing I’ve experienced and learned from this whole scenario is that time management is incredibly important, not just at work but in all areas of life. I should have left home earlier to avoid the traffic, so I could have reached the terminal on time and caught the bus. We all struggle with time management. Let's take a few moments each morning to start the day with a plan. We all have the same amount of time—it’s not about having more time, it’s about using it effectively. I have spent two weeks in Islamabad and Rawalpindi and It's disheartening to note the prevalent disparity between advertised job roles and the actual terms offered during interviews, particularly in the Islamabad/Rawalpindi area. This discrepancy not only impacts candidates' time and resources but also fosters a sense of disillusionment. To rectify this issue and ensure transparency in the recruitment process, companies should clearly delineate both the base salary and performance-based components of the compensation package, along with associated terms and conditions, in their job postings. This approach not only fosters trust and respect for the hiring process but also enables candidates to make informed decisions regarding their career prospects.

Timely Attendance in the Workplace: Balancing Productivity and Flexibility In today's competitive work environment, punctuality is essential for maintaining productivity and discipline. Organizations implement various policies to ensure employees report on time while balancing flexibility with operational demands. Here’s a breakdown of common late attendance policies and their alignment with Pakistan’s Labour Laws. Standard Late Attendance Policies Grace Period Many organizations offer a grace period, typically ranging from 5 to 20 minutes after the shift start time, allowing employees some flexibility without being marked late. Actions for Late Arrival Post-Grace Period (Gate Closure Time) If an employee arrives after the grace period, organizations may enforce one of the following policies: -Sent Home: Some companies enforce strict policies where late employees are sent back home. -Departmental Approval: Employees may be required to seek permission from their department head, who can approve or deny entry. -Half-Day Leave: Late arrivals may be permitted entry but required to take a half-day leave. -Half-Day Salary Deduction: In some cases, a half-day salary deduction is imposed. -HR/Admin/Management Discretion: Only authorized personnel, such as the HR Manager, Admin, or Security Manager, may decide if a latecomer can resume duties. Labour Laws in Pakistan on Late Attendance The Punjab Payment of Wages Act, 2019, and Sindh Payment of Wages Act, 2015 (Sections 7 and 10), set forth the following regulations: -Proportional Wage Deduction: Organizations may deduct wages based precisely on the time absent—no more, no less. -Shift Start and Gate Closure: Companies can close their gates promptly at shift start for orderly operations. However, there is no official provision for a grace period. -Fines for Late Arrival: Employers may impose a fine of up to 3% of the daily wage for tardiness. Collected fines must be recorded in a Fines Register and used solely for employee welfare. -Disciplinary Action for Habitual Lateness: Repeated tardiness may lead to disciplinary actions, including potential misconduct proceedings for habitual lateness. Some companies in Pakistan force writers to write 10,000+ words per day. And that too for <1 PKR/word = $0.0036 USD/word Sounds like a lie? Well, it is reality. One of my friends worked in a digital marketing company where he was forced to write 12,000 words daily (6 articles a day, 36 articles a week!!). Is it humanly possible? No, it's not. As HR professionals, it’s crucial to recognize that salary increments cannot be solely based on employee performance. While performance remains an important consideration, we must also account for economic factors such as inflation rates, the consumer price index (CPI) and the cost of basic necessities. Recent regulations in Pakistan have set the minimum wage at Rs. 37,000. This regulation might seem confusing or challenging to understand in the context of salary increments. To address this, I am seeking insights on two key points: 1. What is the recommended minimum percentage increase in employee salaries to comply with economic adjustments and minimum wage requirements, irrespective of performance? 2. What is the maximum percentage increase that should be considered for high performers, taking into account their contributions, as well as inflation, CPI and other relevant economic factors?
