Here’s how to make SEO your biggest revenue driver (advice based on generating +$20 million in revenue, not pipeline): ✅ Treat it as a demand capture channel Skip top of the funnel entirely, and jump straight into JTBD middle & bottom of the funnel. There’s gonna be plenty of room later to play the awareness game. The magic of SEO lies in the ability to reach buyers who are already searching for your product. That may be only 5% of your TAM buyers (in-market buyers), but that’s more than enough to grow you to (hundreds of) millions in ARR. Plus, the bar is so low - since most SEOs are chasing vanity metrics (traffic), these low-volume, high-intent long tail money keywords are such an untapped opportunity. ✅ Spend money on content, not backlinks Backlinks don’t generate revenue, content does. You can’t rank for all these keywords where buyers are already searching for your solution until you have a page of content for that query, so building backlinks won’t help. Let’s say there are 10,000 ways (KWs) prospects are searching for you already. This is your lowest hanging fruit you should saturate first. Once you cluster those 10,000 keywords, you’ll have e.g. 2,000 pages of content to create. The faster you publish this content, the faster you’ll capture all the existing demand. So, your goal should be increasing content publishing velocity, because publishing 10 pages a month means it’ll take you 200 months (almost 20 years!) to just saturate existing demand. Publish 200/month, and you’ll do that in under a year. ✅ Natively integrate product into content Google rewards content that provides the most value to the user. That should be your first step - to create the best page of content Google can show to the user. Skip this step and jump straight into promoting your product and you just won’t rank. Once you’ve provided value and solved the user's problem, the next step is to position your product as the natural next step: as a better / cheaper / faster alternative. It’s that simple! ✅ Report on performance weekly It’s hard to hide when you’re transparently reporting on progress every week. It’s gonna push you to do better. Once the campaign hits mid stage (usually 4-6 months in), go from just reporting on leading indicators to reporting on signups & revenue. Conversions should start increasing linearly with traffic. I know that with the old SEO playbook conversions never increase linearly with traffic, but with this playbook, they do. Because, remember, we’re targeting just high-intent, revenue generating opportunities - none of those fluffy TOFU keywords that drive a ton of traffic but little-to-no signups.

The most underrated Google Ads strategy: SEO + Google Ads (A sneak peek into our most profitable strategy) In this thread, I’ll share a strategy that helped us scale top eCom brands: Obvi, Crafted, Wine by Lamborghini, Tabs Chocolate, etc. The strategy? Combing Google Ads & SEO. But not in the way most people think… Let’s start with the basics: Top-of-funnel keywords. These are the search terms potential customers use when they're not even aware of your solution and products. This is a goldmine for eCom brands, especially on Google Most brands only focus on purchase-intent traffic. Many are forgetting (and not even aware) of TOF keywords. There’s a blue ocean out there for you to capitalize: High traffic, low cost, high ROI. On top of that, you can attract consumers at the start of their buying journey. This creates a constant flow of new customers for your brands. For example: If you sell supplements for the carnivore diet, your ideal customer can be searching for: "how to lower blood cholesterol naturally" You create content about it. And then introduce the carnivore diet as a possible solution. Many SEO agencies will tell you it’s hard to rank for broad terms. “There’s too much competition” They’re right, but that’s where our strategy differs. We don’t aim to outrank big players organically. We use SEO-optimized articles as landing pages for Google Ads. This is what our method looks like: 1. Identify TOFU keywords related to your products. 2. Create valuable content to address these topics. 3. Position your product within the content as the solution. 4. Promote that content with Google Ads One of our clients sells beef supplements for the carnivore diet. We run ads targeting the term "carnivore diet.", driving traffic to a content landing page. The result? 108k impressions. 10k clicks. In just 3 months. Now, here’s how you can do it: 1. Finding TOF Keywords Start with what you already have. Analyze the search terms from your pMax, Shopping & search campaigns. Dive into Google Search Console. SEO tools like Google Keyword Planner are also useful here. 2. Create SEO-optimized content When creating these articles, provide real value to the reader. Offer educational content for the audience. Address any doubts they may have when introducing your solution. Then use a soft-sell approach. Remember, the traffic coming to this page is cold. Warm them up to build brand awareness. Use clean visuals and design to retain their attention. This page won’t convert as well as your BOF campaigns. But your CPCs will be much lower. AI is rewriting the SEO playbook and CMOs might want to pay close attention. Because Searchpocalypse is coming (or maybe SEOcalypse sounds better? 🤔) Either way, the truth is that AI is transforming SEO faster than most of us can keep up: - Google's AI overviews are now answering queries directly, often bypassing our carefully crafted landing pages. - Traffic patterns are changing: overall visits may drop, but those who do click through tend to be more engaged. - New players like OpenAI's SearchGPT and Perplexity are muscling into Google's territory. I can't help but see the parallels between today's AI revolution and the mobile optimization scramble of 2014. Remember that one? If your website wasn't mobile optimized, Google stopped serving it up in it's search results. Agile companies took advantage of the change then. The same thing can happen now. And agile companies today can take advantage to leapfrog incumbents in their space on page rankings, and becoming the authority source which the AI will point to. So now is the time to adapt. Is SEO dead? No. But it's evolving at warp speed, and if you're not adapting, you're going to fall behind quickly. I've heard it called the era AIVO (AI Visibility Optimization) or LMO (Language Model Optimization). I prefer AIVO. Doesn't matter, pick your poison. But know that it's 2014's mobile optimization scramble on steroids. So, what's a savvy marketer to do? Here are some emerging strategies [theories]: 1. Master EAT ('Expertise, Authority, Trust') - it's the new holy grail in the world of AIVO. 2. Ditch the corporate speak. AI craves authenticity. (As do your colleagues and employees btw.) 3. Think conversations, not just keywords. Long-tail keyword research... 4. Create structured content clusters that even AI can't resist. 5. Focus on unique insights in your content. But with high quality, not just GPT-created shit. Point is that much of this right now is still mostly theoretical. It’s what the experts *think* will work. It’s such early stage that no one truly knows if this will be effective. So it’s important to keep experimenting and learning, monitoring. Because of you don't, you'll lose. I'm convinced of that. So start experimenting now. Be bold. Be agile. Talk to your SEO experts and really grill them on what they think about what’s happening due to AI in the world of search. If they don’t have an opinion on it, ditch them and work with ones who do. Because though their opinions may turn out to not be 100% right, at least they're thinking about it. We've created 100s of SaaS landing pages that (1) rank in Google and (2) convert traffic into customers. Here's the landing page plan we follow: 1. Hero section Company logo: Ensure branding is immediately visible. Headline: Benefit-driven headline that captures attention and clearly states the (compelling) value proposition. E.g. "Discover and create the best LinkedIn content" Subheadline: Supporting statement that adds further clarity to the headline. E.g. "Kleo is the free browser extension that helps you easily find inspiration and create content on LinkedIn." Primary CTA: Button that stands out and guides the user to the desired next step. E.g. "Install on Chrome" Social proof: Show that people like the reader are also using the product (and how many). E.g. "Loved by 27,000 LinkedIn users" (include visuals like user images or logos) Image or video: Add an image, video, or GIF that visually communicates the product in action, making it easy for users to understand how it works. 2. Benefits section Key benefits: Show the main benefits of the product and give a brief description of the features that achieve this. E.g. "Study any creator’s content. Zoom in on your favourite creators to get better insight into their content and standout posts." Supporting visuals: Include images to reinforce the benefits and showcase the product in action. 3. More social proof Testimonials: Include quotes from satisfied customers to increase authenticity. Trust signals: Add logos of well-known brands or individual users to further establish credibility. E.g. "Trusted by 1,000+ teams worldwide" 4. FAQ section Address the most frequently asked questions to overcome any objections. E.g. "Is Kleo detected by LinkedIn?" Use Google autosuggest, keyword research tools, and search modifiers to find SEO-focused questions to further optimise for your target keyword(s). E.g. "Why is Kleo the best LinkedIn content tool?" 5. Final call to action (CTA) Encourage users to take immediate action. E.g. "Start using Kleo for free" 6. Internal linking Links to related features: Provide links to other feature pages to keep users exploring. E.g. “See how you can preview posts with Kleo" Make sure to also link to the new landing page from other pages with optimised anchor text. 7. Mobile optimisation Ensure the landing page is fully optimised for mobile users with quick load times, easy navigation, and mobile-friendly CTAs. 8. Footer section Contact information: Include contact details like email, phone number, and address or a link to support. Legal information: Provide links to important pages such as Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. 9. Repeat for every feature We created 8 of these feature pages for a B2B SaaS company a few months ago. Here are 19 AI link building tactics that agencies actually use to build quality links (not spam). 1. Feed outreach target’s sitemap into ChatGPT. Ask it to generate article ideas they don’t already have. Pitch those ideas. 2. Prompt ChatGPT to generate article ideas to pitch based on your business and theirs. Feed it their about page and your business model. 3. Write guest post articles. Start with the topics above, create an outline using Detailed, then have it write. Use an Ai editing checklist to clean things up. 4. Use ChatGPT to rewrite your outreach messages. Have it slightly reword things every couple days. This will help increase deliverability and make sure you aren’t sent to spam. 5. Ask ChatGPT to help brainstorm subject lines for outreach. Keep it under 5 words and somewhat vague. 6. Tell it to brainstorm ice breakers or jokes for your outreach emails. Make it one sentence only and feed it their about page to its super relevant to their business. 7. Answer questions for HARO/HERO/Connectively, but with a twist: feed ChatGPT a big document about yourself or your business. Talk about your experience, what you do, your philosophy, as well as some commonly asked HARO questions. Now, your answers will be super original rather than garbage. 8. When doing skyscraper outreach, have ChatGPT give you a bullet point list of what topics your article covers that the article they are linking to does not cover. 9. Use ChatGPT to create parasite articles on LinkedIn and Medium. Use the same steps as with guest post post articles. 10. Get anchor text ideas by asking it for LSI/semantically relevant keywords for your main keyword. Will help with diversity and appearing natural instead of slamming exact-match anchors all day. 11. For link insertions, feed it the site’s sitemap and ask which articles are most relevant for the one you want to build links to. Then, feed it the article and ask where are the most natural and relevant places to insert links to your article. 12. Answer questions on Quora, but also feed it the document like we talked about for HARO responses. 13. Use ChatGPT to write video descriptions for your YouTube videos, and then feed it your sitemap and ask for the most relevant articles to link to in the description based on the video title. 14. Use it to create content for web 2.0s like blogspot. Use the same content creation steps as above. 15. Create easy social signals by creating social media posts with ChatGPT based on your article, and then share with a link. 16. Feed ChatGPT your about page or homepage and ask it to create a social profile/forum profile description using many semantically relevant keywords. A new attribution setting? Meta made some big announcements related to optimization improvements, and Incremental Conversions was one of them. Meta says that when this was tested, advertisers saw an average improvement of more than 20% in Incremental Conversions. This could help cut out the fluff, though it’s not clear how it would be much different or better than optimizing for click attribution. But, I'm very likely missing some details that will make more sense later. I’m also confused by how Meta calls this an attribution setting, but they explain how this is in contrast to optimizing for volume. So, is this a new attribution setting to go along with click and view attribution? Or is it a performance goal option in addition to maximize number or value of conversions? It was a short description, so I won't hold it against Meta that I'm confused. I'm easily confused, especially without access to a new feature -- or at least some screenshots. I'm not too worried about it. We’ll see soon enough. Meta says that Incremental Conversions will start rolling out in the second half of the year.

YouTube Video Action Campaigns getting merged with Demand Gen in 2025 feels too soon. We usually focus on CPV and CPM for YouTube ads but I image this is just the start of what Google plans to do with YouTube Ads. The biggest lever Google has is making everyone run YouTube ads.
