Lauren Smith/Paramount+ While there can be challenges on set at times, Saldaña tells PEOPLE the cast developed a sense of fellowship and generosity that comes in handy, particularly now that the show is on its second season. “If we were doing those heavy scenes with the rest of the cast, they would all jump in and run lines with us in order for us to lock in a cadence, so that by the time we're ready for camera, we were just like extensions of each other,” she explains. “That kind of camaraderie, you can only be so lucky to have on set.” Never miss a story — sign up for PEOPLE's free daily newsletter to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories.
